The Premier League weekend kicks-off with a fierce London derby at 12.30pm on Sky Sports 1, a game that could both end Arsenal’s title hopes and make Chelsea’s lead at the top nigh-on unassailable. There is a 9 point deficit between the 2 sides, the Gunners’ mid-week embarrassment against Watford meaning they couldn’t capitalise on the Blues’ draw against Liverpool. Wenger, who was in the stands on Tuesday as he continues to serve his touchline ban, even went as far as to say his side were ‘mentally not ready’ for their match against the Hornets. And if they weren’t prepared to face a team that hadn’t won a league game since mid-December, it doesn’t bode well for their crucial fixture against the effective champions-elect. Saturday’s game is also notable for the fact that it sees the Premier League’s joint top scorers come face-to-face. Both Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez have found the back of the net 15 times this season, with the latter ahead of the brutish Blue on assists. The result this weekend could well come down to who out of the two performs better; the Spaniard is at a Super Mega PGM of 35-41, the Chilean at 20-24. As is clear, things have changed quite a bit since the London rivals last met, a match that saw the Gunners run rampant in a 3-0 win. The league-leaders won’t be overturned so easily this time around, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Arsenal Goal Supremacy spread of 0.5-0.7 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.65-2.85. While none of the weekend’s other games are perhaps quite as high octane as that early fixture, they could still have important ramifications for the title race. Like Arsenal, Tottenham are 9 points off of Chelsea, so a win against Middlesbrough is a must; they meet at 5.30pm on BT Sport 1. Spurs are actually the only team to beat the Blues since Arsenal. Yet they followed up that impressive victory, and a 4-0 thumping of West Brom, with back-to-back draws against Man City and Sunderland (with an FA Cup Great Escape against Wycombe thrown in for good measure). They could do with Harry Kane returning to the score sheet; the English forward, who has 13 league goals, is at a Super Mega PGM of 69-79. As for Boro, despite being in 15th place they are in no ways out of the relegation battle just yet. Only 2 points separate them from Crystal Palace in 18th, a fitting reward for a side who have failed to win any of their last 6 league games. The chances of that changing on Saturday look slim, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Middlesbrough Goal Supremacy spread of 1.65-1.85 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. Turning to Sunday, and Man City will try and crack the top 5 with a win over Swansea at 1.30pm on Sky Sports 1. Something about the Olympic Stadium seems to bring City alive; after beating West Ham 5-0 in the FA Cup, Pep Guardiola’s side returned to the troubled London club and put another 4 past them mid-week. That, and their 3-0 win over Palace in the Cup, was exactly the kind of refresher City needed, with the added bonus of a splendid performance from Gabriel Jesus, who heads into the weekend at a Super Mega PGM of 59-69. Though they have lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with consecutive wins over Liverpool and Southampton, Swansea need to maintain that momentum if they are to ensure a place in the top flight next season. Asking them to do so against a City side looking to assassinate the opposition might be a stretch too far, however, with Spreadex offering a Man City/Swansea Goal Supremacy spread of 2-2.2 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.45-3.65. Finally an in-danger Leicester will try and get something off of Manchester United at 4pm on Sky Sports 1. In what could be the greatest rags to riches to rags again story of all-time, the Foxes are just 2 points above the drop zone and are yet to pick up a league in in 2017 – even worse they haven’t even scored a league goal this year, and have conceded 7 in their last 3 games. In contrast Man United are unbeaten since the end of October. Yet they still find themselves in 6th place, a whopping 14 points below Chelsea, thanks to the fact that they have drawn 7 of their last 14 games. The main issue is United’s wastefulness upfront, scoring just 33 goals (almost half of them coming from Ibrahimovic, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 50-58); in comparison, the top 5 have all scored between 45 and 52 goals. Nevertheless, everything points to an away win on Sunday, with Spreadex offering a Manchester United/Leicester (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.8-1 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.4-2.6.
