A colossal weekend of Premier League football kicks off with a whimper on Saturday. An afternoon trip to Stoke isn’t the most exciting way to start the weekend, with Leicester travelling to the bet365 Stadium at 12.30pm on Sky Sports. The Potters haven’t had the easiest fixtures list, clashing with Everton, Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and Man City – i.e. 5 of the 2016/17 top 7 – in their opening 10 games. They’ve picked up some decent results along the way, namely a win at Arsenal and a draw at Old Trafford, but not enough to keep them from lurking on the outskirts of the relegation battle. As for Leicester, they’ll be looking to build on last weekend’s 2-0 win over the Toffees, their first game under Claude Puel’s leadership. The Foxes may be 3 places above their hosts, but only a point separates the 2 sides, making Saturday’s match pretty hard to call, leading Spreadex to offer a choice Stoke/Leicester Goal Supremacy spread of -0.1-0.1 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.45-2.65. Things begin to heat up on Saturday afternoon, with Liverpool travelling to West Ham at 5.30 pm on BT Sport 1. The Reds have been one of the season’s more inconsistent teams, with the 4-0 and 7-0 highs against Arsenal and Maribor countered by the crushing lows of their 5-0 and 4-1 losses to Man City and Tottenham. They’re on a decent mini-run, however, beating Huddersfield 3-0 before taking commend of their Champions League group with another 3-0 victory over Maribor mid-week. Slaven Bilic appears to have survived his reported 2 game deadline to turn things around at West Ham, even if he did undermine a spirited EFL Cup comeback against Tottenham with a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace. Whether he makes it out of the weekend is another matter, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/West Ham (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.85-1.05 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.95-3.15. Sunday starts with a chance for Tottenham to flex their new found European clout against bottom of the league Crystal Palace, at 12pm on BT Sport 1. Spurs’ 3-1 Wembley win over Real Madrid was one of the best in the club’s history, providing a swift rebuttal to the 1-0 loss at Old Trafford the weekend previous (and the shock EFL Cup defeat to West Ham before that). Palace, meanwhile, are still languishing in 20th place, picking up just 4 points in their first 10 games. Yet there were signs of improvement in October, specifically that amazing 2-1 win over Chelsea and a snatched draw against West Ham. Still, Spurs will likely have a swagger in their step on Sunday, and sit at a chunky Tottenham/Crystal Palace Goal Supremacy spread of 1.7-1.9 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.25-3.45. One of the weekend’s two major fixtures is next, with a rampant Manchester City hosting a less convincing Arsenal at 2.15pm on Sky Sports. City look absolutely monstrous at the moment. In 16 games they’ve won 15 and drawn once, scored 49 goals and conceded just 10. Raheem Sterling is in the form of his life, outscoring Sergio Aguero with 10 goals to the Argentine’s 9 (and that’s not to mention Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane, both on 8). In comparison Arsenal look a bit tame. They’re 5th in the league, but 9 points behind the league leaders. They’re already through to the Europa League last 32, which sounds great until you look at City’s 4 wins in 4 in a Champions League group that contains Serie A leaders Napoli and a strong Shakhtar Donetsk. And in the league Arsenal have score almost half of City’s tally while conceding more than double. All this is to say that the Gunners may be in for a rough ride on Sunday, with Spreadex offering a Man City/Arsenal Goal Supremacy spread of 1.3-1.5 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.55-3.75. Finally, Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge once more as Chelsea take on Manchester United at 4.30pm on Sky Sports. United lost some of their momentum in October; not only did they suffer their first defeat of the season, but the formerly prolific Romelu Lukaku failed to find the back of the net at all during the month. That’s helped a 5 point gap open up between them and their Manchester rivals, though they themselves still have 3 points on 3rd place Spurs. Though United may have slowed down, they haven’t stalled as much as Chelsea. The Blues head into the weekend after an embarrassing trip to Antonio Conte’s native Italy, where they lost 3-0 against Roma. It was their third loss in 7 games in all competitions, a run that leaves them 2nd in their Champions League Group C and 9 points off of Premier League leaders Man City. Yet the Blues are still fancied to eke out a result on Sunday, at a Chelsea/Man United Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.25-2.45.
