Will Tottenham be able to take advantage of Barcelona’s domestic wobble when they face-off at Wembley, at 8pm on BT Sport 2? It appears that Spurs have just about come out the other side of their mid-September slump. They had started the season so well, with consecutive victories over Newcastle, Fulham and Man United, only to lose 3 games on the trot, with defeats against Watford and Liverpool in the league and Inter Milan in Europe. They ended the month strongly enough, however, with course-correcting – if entirely expected – away victories over Brighton and Huddersfield. Crucially a previously weary Harry Kane, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 43-50, got on the scoresheet in both of those games, even if 2 of his 3 goals were from the penalty spot. If Tottenham have apparently put their early autumn problems behind them, Barcelona are in the midst of their own sticky patch. The club’s early performances were pretty typical; they won the Supercopa de Espana final against Sevilla, clocked 4 consecutive victories in La Liga (including an 8-2 hammering of Huesca) and managed to beat PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in their Champions League opener. Yet since then they’ve stumbled, a shock away loss at Leganes sandwiched between pair of home draws against Girona and Athletic Bilbao. It’s hardly a disaster – Barca are top of the table in Spain, and have Lionel Messi on 8 goals in 8 games and at a Super Mega PGM of 58-68. But it’s still not the best preparation for Wembley, even if Spreadex are offering a Barcelona/Tottenham (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.4-0.6 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.1-3.3. Elsewhere, can Liverpool bounce back from their Blues blip when they travel to Napoli, at 8pm on BT Sport 3? Before last week you’d be hard pushed to find a side that had had a better start to the season than Jurgen Klopp’s lads. In the Premier League they’d managed 6 wins in 6, scoring 14 goals while conceding just 2; in Europe, meanwhile, they staked their claim on Group C by beating PSG at Anfield. However, they seemed to incur their kryptonite last week, failing to beat Chelsea in 2 times of asking. First they exited in the EFL Cup following a late solo effort from Eden Hazard, before just about securing a draw at Stamford Bridge thanks to an 89th minute equaliser from Daniel Sturridge. The Englishman, who’s now scored 4 goals this season, finds himself at a Super Mega PGM of 27-32 going into Wednesday night, ahead of Sadio Mane’s 21-26, but behind Mohamed Salah’s 35-41. Napoli, meanwhile, already find themselves 6 points behind Serie A leaders Juventus , with losses to Sampdoria and, most recently, the defending Italian champs spoiling the 5 victories seen elsewhere. As for the Champions League, the fumbled what should have been a relatively easy 3 points in Belgrade, instead settling for a goalless draw against Red Star. Chelsea-interruption aside the Reds have looked pretty damn tasty this season, leading Spreadex to offer a Liverpool/Napoli (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95.
