Can Liverpool disrupt Man City’s Champions League plans in Wednesday’s quarter-final 1st leg, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? The Reds are the only side in the Premier League to beat Man City so far this season, a feat that, across all competitions, puts them in the surprising company of Wigan, Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Basel (though arguably those final 2 losses don’t really count given that they were dead rubbers). Of course, Liverpool also were hammered 5-0 at the Etihad last September, so Jurgen Klopp hasn’t completely got Pep Guardiola’s number. One thing Liverpool will be pleased about is that Sergio Aguero – who has admittedly hasn’t scored in a few weeks (so much so that he is still chasing his 200th goal for City – is out with a knee injury. Granted, the champions-elect still have Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling at Super Mega PGMs of 36-42 and 19-23, but it’s a potentially crucial blow nevertheless, especially since Liverpool are rocking the Premier League’s top scorer Mohamed Salah at a spread of 39-45. This fixture is the pick of the round, not only because of the drama built by the last time the 2 sides met, but because it should promise goals (they are the Premier League’s highest scoring teams, and have 12 goals between in 2 games this season). Guardiola will be out for revenge after Klopp spoilt his domestic unbeaten run, with Spreadex offering a Manchester City/Liverpool (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.1-0.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1. While that all-English tie should be a nail-biter, the same can’t be said about Wednesday’s other quarter-final, when Barcelona host Roma at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. The Spaniards are unbeaten domestically and are looking at another La Liga title, with a 9 point lead at the top of the table, and could potentially nab another treble if all goes well in the Champions League and this month’s Copa del Rey final. They also deftly dealt with their last 16 battle against Chelsea, with a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge followed by a swaggering, Lionel Messi-led 3-0 win at the Nou Camp. As for Roma, they are definitely in the B-tier of Champions League sides this season. They’re 18 points off the pace in Serie A, and, while they topped Group C over Chelsea, they haven’t been too convincing in Europe, getting past Shakhtar Donetsk on the away goals rule. The Italians could be in for a rude awakening on Wednesday, with Spreadex offering a Barcelona/Roma Goal Supremacy spread of 2.05-2.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.3-3.5.
