Can West Ham put some more distance between them and the relegation zone with a surprise victory at Tottenham? It’s a sign of how tight the bottom half of the table is that the Hammers, who were in 19th place 3 weeks ago and now sit in 16th, could jump all the way to 11th if they pick up all 3 points on Thursday evening. That’s because, after a pretty duff start, David Moyes has actually begun to turn things around for West Ham. The last 6 games have seen the East London club pick up a string of impressive results, including a 1-0 win over Chelsea, a 0-0 draw against Arsenal and a 3-0 victory at Stoke. Just 2 days ago West Ham perhaps secured their most important victory of the festive season, coming from behind to nab a (very, VERY) late win over fellow relegation candidates West Brom after a 94th minute goal from Andy Carroll. That was the 2nd time Carroll found the back of net on Tuesday, marking the lanky forward’s first goals of the season. That leaves him with a Super Mega PGM of 12-16, the same as Javier Hernandez and ahead of Andre Ayew and Diafra Sakho, both on 10-14. As for Spurs, they’ll be looking to put pressure on the top 4 by closing the gap between then and 4th place Liverpool to one point. Like West Ham, Tottenham were in action on Tuesday, beating Swansea – who are in major trouble – 2-0 thanks to goals from Fernando Llorente (who has a Super Mega PGM of 50-58) and Dele Alli (at 36-42). Attention on Thursday night will be on the returning Harry Kane, who’s all set to make his first start of 2018 after missing the first two thirds of Tuesday’s trip to Wales. The England star had a fearsome end to 2017, banking 8 goals across December to become the year’s top scorer in Europe, breaking the decade’s Messi/Ronaldo duopoly and leaving him with a hefty Super Mega PGM of 82-97. Though the visitors are held their own against the league’s big boys in the last few weeks, they are facing a hell of a task holding off Spurs, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/West Ham Goal Supremacy spread of 1.6-1.8 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.1-3.3.
