A bumper weekend of FA Cup football kicks off with a doozy on Friday night, as Liverpool host Everton at 7.55pm on BBC One! Since their 4-1 defeat to Spurs back in October Liverpool haven’t lost a game, a period that has seen them become the 2nd highest scoring side in the Premier League. Frustratingly the most prolific member of the club’s crack strike force, Mohamed Salah, is absent from Friday’s game due to injury, meaning Roberto Firmino will have to pick up the slack at a Super Mega PGM of 42-49. For a while Everton had their own little unbeaten streak going, with the Toffees avoiding defeat for Big Sam’s first 6 games in charge. That’s unravelled in the last week, however, with back-to-back losses to Bournemouth and Manchester United softening the side up ahead of their 3rd round derby. And despite drawing when they met last month the Reds will fancy themselves this time out, at a Liverpool/Everton Goal Supremacy spread of 1.3-1.5 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. Saturday then takes it back down a notch, as Leicester travel to Fleetwood at 12.45pm on BBC One. The Foxes had a pretty dark end to 2017, drawing against Man United but losing to Crystal Palace, Watford and Liverpool. They kicked off 2018 on the right foot, however, putting 3 past Huddersfield to keep up the push for a possible place in Europe next season. As for Fleetwood – incidentally, Jamie Vardy’s former club – they’re having a rather middling season. So middling, in fact, that they’re smack bang in the middle of League One in 12th, a disappointment given last season’s play-off reaching form. Given the Cod Army were forced into a 2nd round reply against Hereford their chances on Saturday aren’t great, with Spreadex offering a Leicester/Fleetwood (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.95-1.15 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. A bit later Norwich attempt a colossal scalp when they host Chelsea at 5.30pm on BT Sport 2. In the grand scheme of things the Blues’ scintillating – and dramatic – 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday means little. It leaves them in 3rd place, 16 points adrift of Man City but 5 ahead of Spurs, in a sort of Europe-qualifying safety zone that can only disappoint the current Premier League champs. Out of the EFL Cup, and unlikely to make one of the Championship’s play-off places, the FA Cup arguably provides the Canaries with their final chance to do something this season. It’s sad, then, that they’re been drawn against the Blues, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Norwich (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.15-1.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05. The miss-matched fixtures continue into Sunday, as West Ham visit Shrewsbury at 2pm on BBC One. The Hammers have undergone quite an impressive turnaround in the last month or so, beating Chelsea, drawing against Arsenal and, on Thursday, Tottenham, while winning crucial relegation battles against Stoke and West Brom. That’s nothing, however, compared to the transformation at Shrewsbury. Last season they were flirting with disaster, finishing just 2 point above the relegated Port Vale; now they’re in 2nd in League One, 2 points behind leaders Wigan and 5 ahead of Blackburn in 3rd, with just 3 losses in 24 games. That might help them pull off a shock on Sunday, even if the visitors sit at a West Ham/Shrewsbury (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.4-0.6. Finally, defending champions Arsenal face Nottingham Forest at 4pm on BT Sport 2. The Gunners are stagnating at the moment; in their last 7 league games they’ve drawn 5 and won just 2, a run that’s left them stuck in 6th place. Arsene Wenger may need another FA Cup victory to put salve on the wound, and will rely on Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette to lead the charge, with both at a Super Mega PGM of 43-50. They shouldn’t have too many problems against Nottingham Forest. The Championship club have lost 14 of their league games this season, and were battered 5-1 by Chelsea in the 3rd round of the EFL Cup. The Gunners will be hoping for a similar scoreline on Sunday, with Spreadex offering an Arsenal/Nottingham Forest (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.95-1.15 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.95-3.15.
