Sports Betting Blog 05/07/2016: T20 International Preview - England v Sri Lanka, Wednesday 6th July 2016

It is however the hosts who are strong favourites, quoted at 4/11 on the fixed odds with Sri Lanka at 21/10. The Supremacy market (predicted winning margin in runs or 10 points per wicket won by) sees England/Sri Lanka 21-29; clearly Angelo Mathews and his men have their work cut out.

The injury to Alex Hales has opened a spot at the top of the English order, and Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan should be given the chance to stake his claim. After a successful season opening with Brendon McCullum for his county, Malan looks to have the game to make the transition to international level.

He is the 10/3 second favourite to top score for England, only behind his opening partner Jason Roy (5/2 fav). His player performance quote is 31-35, based on 1pt per run, 10 pts per catch, 20 pts per wicket and 25 pts per stumping.

Another potential debutant for England is young Sussex paceman Tymal Mills. The left-armer has been talked about as a potential international player for a couple of years now, and it looks like he will finally get his chance here.

Widely regarded as the fastest bowler in the country, Mills has been in sensational form this season and he should certainly prove to be an exciting addition to this English side. His player performance quote is pitched at 23-27, which could well be of interest to those who fancy him to be too hot for the Sri Lankan’s to handle.

One of the few players to emerge from Sri Lanka’s tour of the UK is wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Chandimal. Chandimal must now be considered as one of the senior players in the Sri Lankan set-up, and he has played with responsibility and maturity throughout this tour.

His consistent form in the ODI series bodes well for this game, and his player performance quote of 43-48 is the highest of any player involved. The opportunity for him to score points both with the bat and with the gloves could give this price some appeal. Chandimal is a 7/2 joint favourite to top score for Sri Lanka.

For so long the Sri Lankan bowling attack relied upon Lasith Malinga, but with him out of the picture it is time for the likes of Nuwan Pradeep and Suranga Lakmal to step up. Our traders appear to have limited faith in them however, offering them up at just 21-25 and 22-26 on the player performance market respectively. The spin option of Suraj Randiv is not predicted to have any more success, with his player performance also pitched at 21-25.

As ever with T20 games the boundaries should flow, with total 6s quoted at 11-12 (multi-sixes 33-38), and total 4s 28-30 (multi-fours 190-220). Ton Ups are pitched at 1-1.5 for those who fancy a batsman to go big, and the ever popular launch market is available at 1400-1500 (highest scoring batsman multiplied by highest number of runs in any one over in the match).

A full range of specials are available as ever, including the 1st 6 over supremacy, run outs and 50 ups. The toss is at 6pm for a 6:30 start, so join us for the fullest in-running service across spread and fixed odds markets. There is even a women’s international beforehand to whet your appetite!
