Are Wolves in line for a walloping from a rebounding Liverpool in Monday’s FA Cup 3rd round head-to-head?
Though they are still 4 points clear at the top of the table, the Reds’ unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end last Thursday. Just a few days after their 5-1 romp against Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp’s lot suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad, Man City keeping the title chase alive.
Still, Roberto Firmino continued a tasty little mini-run, his 4 goals in 2 games leaving him with a Super Mega PGM of 20-24. Admittedly, that leaves him a fair way behind Mohamed Salah, whose 16 goals in all competitions gifts the Egyptian ace with a spread of 43-50. As for Wolves, they’re just about holding onto a spot in the top 10, though Everton, Bournemouth and Brighton are all heavily breathing down the club’s neck. After a truly dreadful patch at the end of autumn, December was pretty great, with victories over Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle and Bournemouth coming alongside a draw at Fulham and, ominously, a 2-0 loss at home to Liverpool. There was no New Year cheer last Wednesday, however, with Wolves slumping to a 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace. Worryingly for Wolves, not only have they got the worst attack in the top 13, Liverpool are unrivalled defensively, Thursday night being the first time this Premier League season they’ve conceded more than 1 goal in a game. With that in mind, and Klopp keen to prove last week’s loss was only a blip, the Reds head into Monday at a fairly comfortable Liverpool/Wolves (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.5-0.7, alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.7-2.9.
