Can Chelsea reassert their top 4 ambitions with a victory in Monday’s London derby against West Ham, at 8pm on Sky Sports Premier League? Heading into a pretty tough run-in – one that sees a pair of Europa League quarter-final fixtures against Slavia Prague alongside domestic trips to Liverpool and Man United – the Blues are chasing a 3rd consecutive league win, something the club hasn’t managed since the first month and a half of the season.
March ended with a 2-1 squeaker at Cardiff, one that leaves the Welsh side with one foot back in the Championship, while April opening with a confident 3-0 run-out against Brighton, their largest margin of victory in the league for around 2 months. Another triumph on Monday would see Chelsea leapfrog both Arsenal and Tottenham, putting them into 3rd having played one more game. Eden Hazard continues to boss things from midfield. He is far and away the club’s top scorer in competitions, the Belgian’s 17 goals gifting him a Super Mega PGM of 55-63. That puts him just ahead of Gonzalo Higuain – who has just 3 goals since joining in January – at 50-58, and Olivier Giroud at 40-47. As for the Hammers, there isn’t a whole lot left for them to play for, beyond ensuring a top 10 finish. Currently they are sat just behind Watford and Everton, both of whom are on 46 points to West Ham’s 42, but with the Toffees, who beat Manuel Pellegrini’s men at the end of March, having played an extra fixture. A win at Stamford Bridge, then, wouldn’t be enough to push them into the top half of the table, but would leave them better positioned to do so. Such a victory is going to be hard to come by, however, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/West Ham Goal Supremacy spread of 1.75-1.95 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.15-3.35.
