Can Chelsea ease their way into the Europe League last 32 by beating BATE Borisov, at 5.55pm on BT Sport 2? If you ignore the Community Shield, Maurizio Sarri’s side at the only English club left yet to lose a game, either domestically or in Europe. They’re 2nd in the Premier League, with 8 wins, 3 draws and a goal difference bested only by Man City, have breezed through the EFL Cup – inflicting Liverpool’s first loss of the season in doing so – and, most pertinent to Thursday night, have been relatively untroubled in the Europa League. Admittedly the competition hasn’t quite see Chelsea at their best, picking up narrow 1-0 wins over PAOK and MOL Vidi. They improved a fortnight ago, however, with a Ruben Loftus-Cheek – who has a Super Mega PGM of 19-23, well behind top scorer Eden Hazard at 38-44 – hat-trick leading to a 3-1 victory over their Belarusian opponents. As for BATE, their competition isn’t over despite sitting at the bottom of Group L. While Chelsea likely have the top spot sewn up, the other knockout slot is very much in play, with BATE, PAOK and MOL all on 3 points. Yet the hosts may struggle to get anything from this blues-free Blues side. Spreadex are offering a Chelsea/BATE Borisov (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.45-1.65 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05. Like Chelsea, Arsenal are looking at reaching the next round with 2 games to spare – all they need to do is squash Sporting Lisbon, at 8pm on BT Sport 2. Still yet to lose a game since their opening defeats to the Premier League’s top 2, the Gunners’ red hot form has nevertheless cooled slightly in the last fortnight. Their 11 game winning streak ended at Crystal Palace thanks to a 2-2 draw, a result that was followed up with a hard-fought point against Liverpool. Let’s just hope this minor dip doesn’t affect their Europa League run. So far they’ve beaten Vorskla Poltava 4-2, came away from Baku with a 3-0 win against Qarabag, and nabbed all 3 points off Sporting Lisbon with a relatively late 1-0 victory in the Portuguese capital. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has 9 goals in all competitions and is the Premier League’s joint top scorer, is at a sizeable Super Mega PGM of 69-79, with Alexandre Lacazette is at 56-66 and Danny Welbeck, who got the winner over Sporting 2 weeks ago, at 36-42. Though their last meeting was pretty tight, the Gunners might have a bit more room to breathe at the Emirteas, with Spreadex offering an Arsenal/Sporting Lisbon Goal Supremacy spread of 1.65-1.85 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3-3.2.
