On the cusp of the 2018/19 Premier League season, who stands best positioned to win the Golden Boot? Unsurprisingly, given the fact he scored 30 goals last season and picked up the World Cup Golden Boot over the summer, Harry Kane leads the pack with a Total Goals spread of 24-26, with a season-long Player Goal Minutes spread of 1225-1325. Nipping at Kane’s heels is last season’s top scorer Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian ace has a Total Goals spread of 21-23 and Goal Minutes spread of 1075-1175 having tallied 32 goals in 2017/18, the biggest haul since Alan Shearer bagged 34 for Blackburn in 1994/95. Salah has ample support a Liverpool, with Sadio Mane at a Total Goals spread of 13.5-15 and Roberto Firmino at 13-14.5. Next up is Sergio Aguero, who has scored 20 goals or more for the past 4 seasons in a row and sits at a Total Goals spread of 19.5-21.5. That price is shared by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who will be looking to double the 10 goals he managed in the period following his move to Arsenal at the end of January. Both sides also have able deputies up front, with Man City’s Gabriel Jesus at 14.5-16 and the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette at 11.75-75. Rounding out the top 5 is Romelu Lukaku, who arguably disappointed with both the 16 Premier League goals scored last season and the lack of knock-out goals in the World Cup. Still, he’s at a Total Goals spread of 18-20, with a Goal Minutes spread of 900-1000. Looking elsewhere, and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy has a healthy Total Goals spread of 15-16.5, while Chelsea may be a bit concerned that Eden Hazard is their best option going forwards, at a spread of 11-12.5 against Alvaro Morata’s 9-10 and Olivier Giroud’s 7.5-8.5. Fulham’s summer signing Aleksander Mitrovic is then at 10-11, with Everton’s Cenk Tosun at 9.75-10.75, West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic at 9.5-10.5, Southampton’s Charlie Austin at 9.25-10.25 and Burnley’s Chris Woods at 9-10.
