Will the FA Cup 3rd round get one final scalp (at least before the replays) when Cambridge host Leeds at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? Lurking just outside the play-off zone in League Two, Cambridge have already dispatched of higher ranked opposition in the Cup this season, though admittedly they themselves were initially made to work by ostensibly inferior opposition. The 1st round saw the U’s forced to a replay by the National League’s Dover Athletic, a 1-1 draw in Cambridge followed by a nervy 4-2 victory, after extra time, at the Crabbie Athletic Ground. That triumph was followed by arguably the club’s best performance of the season so far, a 4-0 thrashing of League One’s admittedly relegation-endangered Coventry at home. All 4 of those goals were scored by Luke Berry, the local lad being Cambridge’s top scorer with 15 goals in all competitions. Berry, then, heads into Monday night with a Super Mega PGM of 14-18, with Uche Ikpeazu at 17-21 and Joe Pigott at 13-17. Leeds, meanwhile, are enjoying a bit of a resurgence this season, and likely stand their best chance of returning to the Premier League (where they haven’t been for approaching 13 years) since they lost the 2005/06 play-off final to Watford. While Brighton and Newcastle increasingly have the two automatic promotion spots on lock, the Whites have a more than decent chance at reaching the play-offs. They currently sit in 5th place, just 1 point away from 3rd place Reading and 4th place Huddersfield, and 3 points ahead of 6th place Sheffield Wednesday. That’s a decent position to be in, especially considering that in their last 13 Championship games their only losses have come against the league’s dominant top 2. Chris Wood has been integral to much of this success, his 13 goals in the Championship more than a third of Leeds’ overall total (he also nabbed 3 goals in the club’s solid League Cup run). Given his form it should be no surprise that Woods travels to the Abbey Stadium with a super Super Mega PGM of 46-54, followed by Souleymane Doukara at 28-33 and Marcus Antonsson at 22-27. Despite plenty of surprises over the weekend, the visitors still have a clear advantage this Monday, with Spreadex offering a Leeds/Cambridge United (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.55-0.75 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.5-2.7.
