Sports Blog 10/08/2016: Premier League Preview – Season Specials Spreads, Saturday 13th August 2016 to Sunday 21st May 2017



With the Premier League kicking off this Saturday what better time to look at Spreadex’s various Season Specials spreads for the English top flight.


First up is Total Goals, with our traders offering a spread of 1015 to 1040; last season’s tally sat smack back in the middle of that spread at 1026. While not the lowest amount of goals scored across a season since the Premier League’s inception (or since the league was cut from 22 to 20 teams in 1995/96), it was still the 2nd lowest tally since 2009/10, only bested by 2014/15’s measly 975.

Then there are Total Red Cards, which sit at a spread of 63-66. That puts the spread about last season’s 60, the first being Thibault Courtois’ 52nd minute exit in Chelsea’s opening game against Swansea, the last being Aleksander Mitrovic’s pointless dismissal in Newcastle’s 5-1 demolition of Tottenham on the final day of the season.

As for penalties well, out of the 91 awarded in 2015/16, the highest for a few seasons, 74 were scored, leading our Spreadex traders to offer a Converted Penalties spread of 6-72.

Finally we have the Bonanza spread, at 280-300. This special spread is all about goals; 5 points are awarded for a game with 6 goals, 10 points for one with 7, 25 for one with 8, 50 for one with 9 and a whopping 100 for one with 10 or more.
