With Chelsea 9 points clear at the top of the table, the title race could effectively end for at least one side this weekend (if it hasn’t already). In that regard Saturday evening’s face-off between Liverpool and Tottenham, at 5.30pm on BT Sport 1, could be huge. The Reds are actually 13 points off the Blues in 5th place, and are yet to pick up a league win in 2017 (and that’s not to mention being dumped out of both the EFL and FA Cups in the space of 3 days). Even worse than that, their 2 New Year losses have come against sides scrabbling about in the relegation battle, their dramatic defeat against Swansea joined by a 2-0 slump against Hull. And for the league’s joint top-scoring side things have somewhat cooled on the goals-front, though Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi still go into Saturday with Super Mega PGMs of 25-30. Spurs, in contrast, haven’t lost a game since mid-December, though they will rue the 4 points they dropped with back-to-back draws against Man City and Sunderland. While Harry Kane has, of course, played his part – with 14 league goals he has a Super Mega PGM of 28-33 – the driving force behind that run has been Dele Alli, who heads to Anfield with a Super Mega PGM of 14-18. Pochettino’s lot are the most likely challengers to Chelsea’s grip on the title, especially if they win on Saturday. However, our Spreadex traders still think the Reds could pull something out of the bag, offering a narrow Liverpool/Tottenham Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.6-2.8. Before all that, Arsenal try and prevent their season from going completely off the rails when they host Hull, at 12.30pm on Sky Sports 1. With back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea the Gunners are now 12 points adrift of the league leaders, Arsene Wenger and co. doing performing their own title race Groundhog Day once again. Hull somehow, then, head to the Emirates as the in-form side. On paper the Tigers’ fixtures list looked like an absolute nightmare, with trips to Chelsea and Manchester United followed by a visit from Liverpool and then this weekend’s appointment at Arsenal. Yet after predictably losing at Stamford Bridge Marco Silva’s side pulled off a minor miracle, holding United to a goalless draw before beating the Reds 2-0. It might be a big ask for them to continue that run, however, especially with the Gunners’ looking for a bit of catharsis; Spreadex are offering an Arsenal/Hull Goal Supremacy spread of 1.8-2 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.25-3.45. While the rest of the top 5 scrabble about Chelsea have a rather easy fixture this Sunday, a leisurely trip to Burnley at 1.30pm on Sky Sports 1. The Blues have one hand on the title already, and if any of their rivals drop points on Saturday, and they pick up the expected 3 points, their lead may well be unassailable. The trip to Turf Moor also gives Diego Costa a chance to reassert himself as the season’s top scorer, a claim currently held by former-Blue and current-Toffee Romelu Lukaku; the Spanish brute has a Super Mega PGM of 44-51. A middling season sees Burnley effectively safe from relegation but with little else to hope for beyond a decent FA Cup run. The fact that they haven’t managed to score more than once per league game in 2017 suggests they may not be up to taking on the might of this Blues side, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Burnley (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.25-1.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.6-2.8. Finally we turn to the other end of the table, as a resurgent Swansea take on a lost Leicester at 4pm Sky Sports 1. While both sides sit on 21 points, just above the relegation zone, they are heading in very different directions. The Swans have won 3 out of their 5 league matches since the New Year began, their losses coming at the hands of Arsenal and, most recently, Man City. Leicester, meanwhile, have not only failed to win a Premier League game in 2017, losing 4 and drawing 1, they haven’t failed to score a single goal in the process. Gylfi Sigurdsson has been key to Swansea’s turnaround, scoring 3 in his last 3 to leave him with a Super Mega PGM of 27-32. In contrast Claudio Ranieri has had to hold talks with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, who sit at 20-24 and 16-20 respectively, because of just how lacklustre their recent performances have been. The hosts will likely be the ones climbing away from the drop, at a Swansea/Leicester Goal Supremacy spread of 0.1-0.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.45-2.65.
