Can Fleetwood secure a sizeable FA Cup scalp when they travel to Leicester at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? A rather middling League One season, which sees the Cod Army stranded in 11th place, basically safe from relegation but 7 points off bottom end of the play-off zone, has the chance to become a bit more interesting if Fleetwood can embarrass Leicester on Tuesday night. They performed admirably when they hosted the Foxes in the first attempt at this fixture 10 days ago – despite managing just 41% of possession they were far more threatening up front than Leicester, who failed to register a single shot on target thanks to the absence of former Fleetwood man Jamie Vardy. If they can replicate a similar performance at the King Power Stadium and they may well progress past the FA Cup 3rd round for the first time in their history. Frustratingly for Fleetwood Vardy returned to action on Saturday and, at a Super Mega PGM of 58-68, will be looking to remind his old club of what exactly they are missing. Not that Fleetwood are lacking up front – Devante Cole sits at a Super Mega PGM of 8-11 after scoring 12 goals in all competitions, 2 more than Vardy has managed this season. Leicester ended 2017 in a pretty miserable manner. They were booted out of the EFL Cup after losing to Man City on penalties, while their final 4 league games of the year resulted in 3 losses and a draw. They’ve picked up in 2018, however, beating Huddersfield 3-0 before securing a very respectable 0-0 draw at Chelsea. That leaves them in 8th place on 31 points, vying with Burnley for a possible place in Europe next season (dependant, incidentally, on the winners of the EFL and FA Cups). With Vardy back the hosts will feel confident about booking their 4th round tickets to Peterborough, at a Leicester/Fleetwood Goal Supremacy spread of 1.65-1.85 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.8-3.
