Can England avoid a second consecutive series lost to India by winning Tuesday’s 3rd ODI in Leeds? So far this ODI series has followed nearly exactly the same pattern as the trio of T20I matches that opened India’s summer tour. The 1st fixture at Trent Bridge was pretty embarrassing for the hosts, a hefty 8 wicket defeat fuelled by an unbeaten 137 from Rohit Sharma, a healthy 75 from Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav’s 5-wicket haul. Yet, just as they did during the T20I series, England bounced back in the 2nd match. Joe Root – who hasn’t had the best time of it, recently – was the star at Lord’s, his 113, alongside a solid showing from Liam Plunkett, allowing Eoin Morgan’s side to secure an 86 runs victory. So it’s all up for grabs, then, heading into Headingley. Having finally rediscovered his mojo in London over the weekend, Root goes into the series-closer at a Player Performance spread of 56-61, where its 1 point per run, 10 points per catch, 20 points per wicket and 25 points per stumping. Besting him, however, is India’s inimitable captain Kohli, at 58-63, with Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes both at 53-58, Jonny Bairstow at 51-56 and Rohit Sharma at 50-55. As for the result itself, it seems pretty impossible to call. Spreadex are offering a choice England/India Supremacy spread of -5-5, with both England and India at To Win match spreads of 47.6-52.4. The teams are equally inseparable in regards to the fixed odds, with both countries at 10/11. Looking at the nitty gritty of the match and Spreadex are offering a Total Sixes spread of 13-14 and a Total Fours spread of 53-56, with an England/India Sixes Matchbet spread of 4-7.
