Can Tottenham mount a late challenge for 2nd place when they travel to Brighton, at 7.45pm on Sky Sports? With arguably a kinder run-in than either Man United or Liverpool, it isn’t outside the realms of possibility that Spurs can secure a second Premier League silver medal in a row, especially if you consider their form leading into Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Man City. Sandwiched between their 4-1 mid-December defeat at the Etihad and the weekend’s slump against the now-crowned champions, Tottenham had gone on a 14 game unbeaten streak, with 3 draws and an impressive 11 wins, including victories over Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea. Add in their FA Cup run and the club’s stats become even more impressive, with an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to this weekend. Saturday’s semi may actually complicate things for Mauricio Pochettino, however. While it would be nice to finish 2nd, given that Tottenham are 7 points ahead of Chelsea and have a game in hand over Liverpool their spot in next season’s Champions League is likely secure. Moving up the top 4 is less essential, then, than picking up the club’s first FA Cup since the early 90s, meaning Pochettino may prioritise his weekend visit from Man United. That, or he’ll send out Harry Kane to snag a bagful, with the forward at a Super Mega PGM of 63-73. The Seagulls, meanwhile, could knock on the door of a top 10 finish if they can pick up a shock result over Tottenham. Brighton have had an excellent debut season in the Premier League, avoiding a flirtation with the relegation zone despite being favourites for the job early on. Worryingly, however, they are heading into Tuesday’s game after a rough patch of form, with losses to Everton, Leicester and Crystal Palace alongside a draw against Huddersfield. Spurs will be looking to get their confidence back following the weekend’s Man City mangling, sitting at a Tottenham/Brighton (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1-1.2 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.7-2.9.
