Will their mid-week Monaco mess haunt Man City when they host Liverpool on Sunday, at 4.30pm on Sky Sport 1? For all Pep Guardiola’s urgings to attack, City slumped to a 3-1 defeat in the French principality and were therefore booted out of the Champions League on away goals. It’s the latest disappointment in the former Barca and Bayern chief’s debut season in England, and one that has caused reports to come out that 18 players are on the chopping block ahead of the summer transfer window. Despite having scored 24 goals in all competitions one of those could be Sergio Aguero; for now, however, with Gabriel Jesus injured the Argentinian will hold onto his place in the starting 11, and heads into the weekend with a Super Mega PGM of 42-49. As for Liverpool, the Reds are currently in 4th place, one point behind City after having played one more game. In theory they will be fresher on Sunday, having not played a high intensity European fixture mid-week; Liverpool also have a fantastic record against the league’s top sides, their 5 losses all coming against teams in the bottom half of the table. With only the FA Cup left to play for Guardiola at the very least needs to get City to the Champions League next season. Luckily for the Spaniard Spreadex fancies his chances, offering a Man City/Liverpool Goal Supremacy spread of 0.45-0.65 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1. While none of the weekend’s other televised games are quite as attractive that Sunday night fixture, they could have a notable impact at both ends of the table. For example, Arsenal need a win against West Brom, at 12.30pm on Sky Sports 1, to keep their Champions League hopes alive. The Gunners are currently in 5th place, 5 points behind Liverpool but with 2 games in hand. FA Cup aside the club has unravelled rather spectacularly in the last couple of months, with 3 losses in their past 4 Premier League games joined by their 10-2 humiliation to Bayern Munich in Europe. West Brom, meanwhile, will be disappointed that their push for a place in the Europa League has lost some of its steam in the last few weeks, with losses to Crystal Palace and Everton leaving the Baggies 7 points behind the Toffees in 8th place. Failure to get a result on Saturday may see that dream completely disappear; sadly for Tony Pulis that looks likely, with Spreadex offering an Arsenal/West Brom (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.75-0.95 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.7-2.9. Saturday afternoon then sees both Bournemouth and Swansea look to take one more step towards safety, at 5.30pm on Sky Sports 1. Though they have lost 4 of their 9 league games in 2017, the fact that the Swans have won the other 5 has lifted the Welsh club out of the relegation zone, leaving them in 16th place on 25 points. That is, however, still well within of those sides languishing at the bottom, meaning a win on the south coast is vital. Bournemouth find themselves in a bit of a better situation than their opponents, sitting in 14th place with 30 points. Yet if they rack up a couple of losses – which is more than likely given that after this weekend they face Southampton, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham –the Cherries could easily slip back into the relegation scrum. Spreadex are offering a Bournemouth/Swansea Goal Supremacy spread of 0.3-0.5 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05. Turning to Sunday morning and Middlesbrough face a tough first game without Aitor Karanka when they host Manchester United at 12pm on BT Sport 1. The Spaniard, who took Boro back into the Premier League, was given the boot on Thursday having won just 4 of his 27 games in charge since being promoted. That leaves assistant head coach Steve Agnew in charge, and chasing the club’s first win in 2017. They perhaps stand a slight chance of doing so given how cluttered United’s fixtures list has been this week. An FA Cup loss to Chelsea on Monday was followed by a narrow Europa League win over Rostov on Thursday, making Sunday’s trip Teesside their 3rd game in 7 days. Jose Mourinho has already voiced his displeasure over this schedule, though he should take solace in the fact that Spreadex are offering a Man United/Middlesbrough Goal Supremacy spread of 0.75-0.95 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.3-2.5. Finally Tottenham will want to solidify 2nd place with a win against Southampton at 2.15pm on Sky Sports 1. While hopes of finishing 1st surely have died off – they currently sit 10 points behind Chelsea – Spurs can’t afford to slacken off. For though they are sitting in 2nd, they are on the same points as Man City, have one more than Liverpool and aren’t too far ahead of Arsenal and Man United, both of whom have played one less game. They also face the end of season run in without Harry Kane, the England star likely out for a month and a half. Fortunately for Tottenham, Southampton aren’t the side they once were. One too many seasons of being plundered in the transfer windows has weakened the Saints to the point that, despite being in 10th place, they are closer in points to the relegation zone than a spot in Europe. And worryingly for Claude Puel his biggest league defeat against to Spurs, his side losing 4-1 at home back in December. It could be a similar score line this time around, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Southampton Goal Supremacy spread of 0.7-0.9 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.55-2.75.
