Can Leicester recover from yet another heavy domestic defeat when they host Copenhagen at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3? Somewhat against the odds the Foxes’ European adventure has provided respite from a disappointing, if slightly predictable, title defence. Currently Leicester are unbeaten in their admittedly soft Champions League Group G, beating both Club Brugge and Porto without conceding a single goal. For a side making its debut in top flight European football that’s an impressive opening. If only their domestic form were as strong... Saturday saw Leicester suffer their latest ignominious defeat, a 3-0 trouncing at the hands of Conte and Kante’s Chelsea. That means in 8 matches the Foxes have lost more league games than they managed in the entirety of last season, and may struggle for a place in Europe, let alone a successful defence of their astonishing title run. The form of Jamie Vardy captures Leicester’s season perfectly; as close as you can get to a modern footballing folk hero Vardy, who heads into Tuesday night at a Super Mega PGM of 28-34, has scored a measly 2 goals this season compared to 7 at this point last year. As for Copenhagen well, currently they look like Leicester’s biggest challenge for the Group G top spot, following up a draw against Porto with a muscular 4-0 victory over Club Brugge. They also haven’t lost a game in the Danish Superliga, winning 8 and drawing 5. Nevertheless it seems that Claudio Ranieri and co. should be able to continue their current European form, with Spreadex offering a Leicester/Copenhagen Goal Supremacy spread of 0.4-0.6 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.35-2.55. As the only team yet to lose a game in the Premier League this season Tottenham really should be doing better in Europe; they travel to Bayer Leverkusen at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2. Once again in the mix for the title, frustrating draws against Everton, Liverpool and, most recently, West Brom have been joined by a series of expected victories and one belting 2-0 win over Man City. Yet in Europe Spurs have struggled, losing their opening game at Wembley 2-1 to Monaco before snatching a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in Russia. With Harry Kane injured the goal-scoring duties have largely fallen to Son Heung-min and Dele Alli. The former, who actually signed from Leverkusen, has 5 goals in all comps (including the winner against CSKA) and a Super Mega PGM of 21-25, while the latter, who nabbed the equaliser at the Hawthorns, is at 14-18. Mauricio Pochettino will also be looking for more from summer splurges Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko, neither of whom have justified their price tags so far; they head to Germany at 21-25 and 4-7 respectively. Though they finished 3rd in the Bundesliga last season, there was a full 18 points separating them from 2nd place Borussia Dortmund and a whopping 28 between them and Bayern Munich. In other words despite some pretty spotty form Leverkusen still managed to find themselves in the Champions League. That trend hasn’t changed this season, their only unambiguously strong result being a domestic 2-0 win over Dortmund. Javier Hernandez, however, remains a threat, and heads into Tuesday at a Super Mega PGM of 31-37, the Mexican’s form arguably giving his side the advantage at a Bayern Leverkusen/Tottenham Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.6-2.8.
