Sports Blog 19/10/2015: Match Preview – Swansea vs Stoke, Monday 19th October 2015

A strong start to the season has begun to fizzle out for Swansea, who will be looking to get back on track if they are to match (or beat) last year’s 8th place finish with a win over the Potters. A draw against Chelsea on the opening day (and one against Sunderland), alongside victories against Newcastle and, most remarkably, Manchester United saw Swansea come out of the gate looking ready to rumble. However, losses to Watford and Southampton, a limp draw against Everton and a twice thrown away lead against Tottenham has seen Swansea slip into the bottom half of the table and, if you factor in their 3rd round League Cup loss against Hull, without a win in 5 games.

Swansea Stoke Match Spreads October 19th

In contrast to Swansea, after a horrid start to the season Stoke are just about finding their footing 3 losses and 3 draws has given way to 2 wins on the trot (even if they were against Bournemouth and Aston Villa). Those 2 wins, alongside a decent performance in both rounds of the League Cup so far, will have provided a much-needed confidence injection to Mark Hughes’ side, a boost that could spell trouble for Swansea.

Club record signing Xherdan Shaqiri, at a Super Mega PGM spread of 10-14, is yet to score for Stoke, whilst Mame Biram Diouf, top scorer for Stoke so far this season, will be absent due to compassionate leave following the death of his mother. In comparison, with 4 goals each Swansea’s top scorer last season Bafetimbi Gomis (at a Super Mega PGM spread of 33-39), and the their star summer signing Andre Ayew (at a Super Mega PGM of 17-21) have made a decent start, and will be integral to the Swan’s game-plan if they are to nab a win this evening.

With a buoyant Welsh crowd behind them, and just that extra touch of quality, our Spreadex traders are plumping for a home win, offering a Swansea/Stoke Goal Supremacy spread of 0.45-0.65 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.3-2.5.
