In arguably the biggest game of the season so far Pep Guardiola returns to the Nou Camp, as Barcelona take on Manchester City on BT Sport 2. After faultless start saw City take 18 points from their first 6 league games the side have encountered a few issues since the end of September. Their winning run, which also included a 2-1 victory over Swansea in the EFL Cup and a 4-0 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach in Europe, came to an end in Scotland, where City came away Celtic, a side Barca beat 7-0, with just a point. That was followed up by a loss at Tottenham, the first of the Guardiola era, and most recently a draw at home to Everton, a result made all the more bitter by the fact that both Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, who head into Wednesday night at Super Mega PGMs of 14-18 and 27-32 respectively, missed penalties. Not that their opponents have been without their problems. Thrice this season the aura of invincibility around Barcelona has been punctured; a home loss to the newly promoted Alves in their 3rd La Liga game was perhaps the most egregious, followed by a 4-3 defeat to Celta Vigo. A draw against Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, is a frustrating if far more forgivable result. They are, however, the top scorers in La Liga with 26 goals and have won both games in Europe, including that 7-0 stonker against Celtic. Both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi have 9 goals apiece in all comps, and both sit at a Super Mega PGM of 58-68, while Neymar, who has found the back of the net 5 times, is at 37-43. Given the fact that the Catalan club have not been defeated at home in Europe for 17 games it is hard to see City, who are stuck in a bit of a lull, getting a result, with Spreadex offering a Barcelona/Manchester City Goal Supremacy spread of 1.1-1.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.45-3.65. Elsewhere in Group C, can Celtic nab their first group stage win against Borussia Monchengladbach on BT Sport ESPN? To say that, up until their thrilling 3-3 draw against Man City, Celtic’s European campaign had been a disaster would be an understatement. Kicking off with a loss against Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps the Hoops scraped through qualification only to be absolutely hammered at the Nou Camp. Yet that point against City gives Celtic, if not a chance of the knockouts, then the ability to fight for a place in the Europa League. Summer-signing Moussa Dembele will be key if they are to achieve that feat, the French youngster scoring 13 times in 18 games, while both Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair have respectable tallies with 8 apiece. As for Borussia Monchengladbach, well, they have arguably suffered just as much as Celtic after being drawn in Group C. A heavy 4-0 loss in Manchester was followed by a predictable 2-1 defeat at home to Barcelona. Combine that with a limp domestic run that has 3 wins in 7 games and the German side may well find themselves struggling to repeat last season’s 4th place finish. In terms of Wednesday’s fixture the respective wobbles of each club make it hard to call, with Spreadex offering a choice Celtic/Borussia Monchengladbach Goal Supremacy spread of -0.1-0.1 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1. Finally, will Arsenal make life a misery for Ludogorets Razgrad when they host the Bulgarian champions on BT Sport 3? Since their opening day loss against Liverpool the Gunners have been in fine form, winning 8 and drawing 2 in all competitions. A large part of that success has stemmed from Theo Walcott’s resurgence, the England forward scoring 7 goals in total to leave him with a Super Mega PGM of 53-61. Alexis Sanchez has looked similarly strong since being dispatched through the middle, and head into Wednesday evening at a spread of 65-75. The ostensibly ease of the fixture may also allow Lucas Perez to make a rare appearance, the underwhelming summer signing at a Super Mega PGM of 62-72. Arsenal’s opposition Ludogorets have actually only existed for 15 years. Nevertheless they have won the Bulgarian league for 5 seasons in a row, and managed to take a point off Basel when the 2 sides met in Switzerland. They even took the lead against PSG at the end of September, only for an equaliser from Blaise Matuidi and a brace from Edison Cavani to prevent them from getting the biggest result in the club’s history. In all honestly the game is the Gunners’ to lose, with Spreadex offering a fairly conclusive Arsenal/Ludogorets Razgrad Goal Supremacy spread of 2.45-2.65 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.45-3.65.
