Who will win Group G in the 2022 World Cup?

Group G will feature tournament favourites Brazil alongside Switzerland, Serbia and Cameroon, in what looks to be a very competitive group in terms of the latter three teams being very evenly matched and likely to have a three-way battle for the second spot in the knockouts behind the 'Selecao'.

Switzerland have produced some impressive performances in recent years and famously knocked France out of the Euros last year, while Serbia produced a shock in qualifying to overcome Portugal to top spot, which put Cristiano Ronaldo's side's hopes of qualifying at risk of a play-off defeat. The African representatives Cameroon are certainly the underdogs on paper, but will also be highly motivated in their first WC appearance since 2014.

In our penultimate group preview, we look at the latest betting odds for Group G in Qatar!

WHAT ARE THE WORLD CUP BETTING ODDS ON BRAZIL IN GROUP G?

Not much needs to be said about Brazil's pedigree. They are the most successful team in the history of the World Cup with five titles, and two each of runners-up, third place and fourth place finishes. In 109 matches, they have produced 73 victories with only 18 losses, and a goal difference of +124! However, it has now been twenty years since their last World Cup victory, and they will be hopeful of their sixth victory in Qatar after recent disappointments of the heartbreaking defeat at home in 2014 where they only finished fourth, and three quarter-finals in 2006, 2010 and 2018.

In this group, they are available with an opening spread of 19.5 - 21 on the binary 25-10-5-0 market. This means that the market settles at 25 if they come top, 10 if they finish second, 5 if they finish third, and 0 if they finish bottom. On the fixed odds, they are at 1/3 to win the group, 1/16 to qualify and 7/1 not to qualify. In terms of their chances of winning a sixth World Cup, their outright odds put them as the favourites at 15/4 on the fixed odds, with a spread of 40 - 44.

PSG's Neymar has been Brazil's talismanic attacker over the last decade or so and is now just two goals behind Pele's all-time record of 77 goals for the national team. He is available at 11/1 to be the tournament's top scorer, and on the spreads with a Player Tournament Goal Minutes spread of 145 - 160, with Tournament Goals at 2.8 - 3.1. Can the former Barcelona and Santos man break Pele's record and lead his side to the trophy? On the Highest Team Scoring Index market, Brazil are available at 26.5 - 29.5. In this market, the top scoring nation will have a market settlement of 100, with the second-highest settling at 50 and third-highest at 25.

WHAT ARE THE WORLD CUP BETTING ODDS ON SWITZERLAND IN GROUP G?

The Swiss are taking part in their eleventh World Cup and have only exited at the group stages four times. They have reached the quarter-finals three times and will surely be happy with a fourth here in Qatar. Interestingly, they faced two of the three teams in this group in the 2018 World Cup and didn't lose to either of them - beating Serbia 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Brazil.

In terms of the betting odds ahead of their group campaign here, Switzerland are available with an opening spread of 8 - 9.5 on the Group G index, and on the fixed odds at 5/1 to win the group, and 10/11 to qualify or 5/6 not to qualify.

In terms of goalscorers, Xherdan Shaqiri has scored for the Swiss in both of the last two World Cups - scoring four goals in total. He is available at 11/2 to be Switzerland's top goalscorer in this tournament.

WHAT ARE THE WORLD CUP BETTING ODDS ON SERBIA IN GROUP G?

Serbia proved to be a surprise package and exceeded expectations in qualifying as they overcame Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in qualification, which will give them huge confidence coming into this tournament. This will be Serbia's thirteenth appearance in this competition and will be hopeful of improving on their last three performances - group stage exits in 2006, 2010, and 2018. Their best-ever performance came in 1962 when they finished in fourth place.

Serbia come into the tournament with a Group G index spread of 7 - 8.5, and on the fixed odds at 6/1 to win the group, and 11/10 to qualify or 8/11 not to qualify. With the Serbs falling to a defeat against both Brazil and Switzerland in 2018, they will look to get revenge here. Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic scored one of their two goals in that competition, and he will likely be key focal point for his side here after a strong start to this Premier League season.

Mitrovic's Tournament Goals spread is 1 - 1.2, with a Tournament Goal Minutes spread of 55 - 65. On our team group markets, Serbia are available on the Team Group Points Won market at 3.6 - 3.8. Would you buy or sell?

WHAT ARE THE WORLD CUP BETTING ODDS ON CAMEROON IN GROUP G?

And finally, group G's betting outsiders will be the African representatives Cameroon, a side which will be looking for its first World Cup points since way back in 2002 after losing all three group games in 2010 and 2014. Their best performance has been a quarter-finals appearance back in 1990.

In terms of the betting odds, Cameroon aren't expected to repeat any of those heroics here. They are available with a Group Index spread of just 2.5 - 3.5, and on the fixed odds at 20/1 to win Group G, 4/1 to qualify and 2/13 not to qualify. In 2014, they conceded nine goals in just three matches. Their Group Goals Conceded spread here is at 5.3 - 5.6.

Can Cameroon turn things around and be the wild card of Group G or are they destined to finish bottom of the group?
