2024/25 Championship Betting Preview Week 10

landing-page-cship-blog

Domestic football is back and there are six EFL matches crammed in between now and the next international break as the Championship table begins to take shape. We have ran our eyes over the games involving our partner clubs this weekend to bring you the odds and stats ahead of another busy weekend of action.

LUTON TOWN v WATFORD, SATURDAY 12:30PM

We have a cracker of a fixture to start our betting preview off as bitter rivals Watford and Luton Town meet at Kenilworth Road.

The two sides have been in the same division just twice since the 2006/07 season and all four meetings have gone the way of the home side, with Luton winning the last meeting 1-0 earlier last year.

Home advantage may well be key tomorrow with Rob Edwards’s side even money to collect all three points with Watford 13/5 to make it three wins from their last four matches.

There are also a few boosted bets that may interest punters with Elijah Adebayo 7/5 from 5/4 to score whilst a 2-1 win for Luton was 15/2 but is now 17/2.

OXFORD UNITED v WEST BROMWICH ALBION, SATURDAY 12:30PM

West Bromwich Albion have relinquished top spot after three games without a win, but our trading team fancy their chances of arresting the mini-slump with a win away at Oxford United.

The Baggies are 10/11 but they face an Oxford side enjoying their long-awaited return to the second flight. With three wins and one draw, Oxford are unbeaten at home and there will be plenty out there who like the look of another home win at 29/10 whilst the Oxford/draw double chance market appeals at 5/6.

In our football spread betting markets, you can buy or sell Total Goals at 2.4-2.6 with Goals Cubed at 34-41.

PRESTON NORTH END v COVENTRY CITY, SATURDAY 3PM

Nineteenth plays twentieth tomorrow as Preston play host to Coventry City and the Lancashire outfit are one point and one place above their visitors.

That is where the similarities end though as Preston have had three different managers in the dugout already this season, yet lining up against Paul Heckingbottom tomorrow will be Mark Robins who has led Cov for the last seven and a half years.

City are narrow favourites to come out on top tomorrow at 6/4, with a home win at 7/4 and the draw at 21/10. Preston are the second lowest scorers in the division and you can back under 2.5 goals at Deepdale at 4/5.

BLACKBURN ROVERS v SWANSEA CITY, SATURDAY 3PM

Back-to-back defeats have put a dent in Blackburn’s impressive start to the season, but John Eustace’s side are a shade above evens at 21/20 to deal with visitors Swansea tomorrow.

The Welsh outfit are winless in their last three matches and they are another side who fail to trouble the back of the net with any kind of regularity. Just 14 goals have been scored in nine Swansea league games this season and that may well appeal to sellers on our Total Goal Minutes football spread betting market at 129-139.

MILLWALL v DERBY COUNTY, SATURDAY 3PM

Partner club Millwall take on Derby tomorrow and the Londoners can be backed to get their third win of the season at even money tomorrow. Under Paul Warne, Derby are making a decent fist of their first season back in the Championship with the Rams heading into the international break on the back of a 2-0 win over QPR.

Derby can be backed at 13/5 tomorrow whilst the draw is 9/4.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v BURNLEY, SATURDAY 3PM

Scott Parker’s Burnley are yet to face defeat in the league this season, yet they are 8/5 to beat partner club Sheffield Wednesday on the road tomorrow. The Clarets are out to 15/2 to win the league in our Championship winner odds whilst they are 21/10 to be promoted and 4/7 to make the top six.

Such lofty ambitions may well be out of reach for Sheffield Wednesday, but the Owls are on the rise after collecting seven points from their last nine available and they are 17/10 to claim their biggest scalp yet.

STOKE CITY v NORWICH CITY, SATURDAY 3PM

Three wins from their last four matches has propelled Norwich up the table with the Canaries nestled a point and a place outside the play-offs.

They face a trip to the Potteries this weekend and with five wins and two draws in their last seven meetings with Stoke they will travel in high spirits with an away win at 8/5.

Stoke could have no better man in charge of the side this weekend with Spaniard Narcis Pelach swapping a gig as first-team coach at Norwich for the manager’s job at the Bet365 Stadium and his side are 6/4 to get one over his former employers.

HULL CITY v SUNDERLAND, SUNDAY 3PM

The final match in this week’s betting blog sees our principal partners Sunderland in action as they face Hull City.

The Mackems are top of the league on goal difference and were it not for a freak bounce of the ball last time out against Leeds, they would have lost three of their last five matches. Still, an impressive start to life under Regis Le Bris has seen the Black Cats shorten to 15/2 in the Championship winner odds and they are 11/8 to get a win tomorrow.

Sunderland have failed to hit the back of the net once this season in the league (against Watford when Wilson Isidor bagged in the 49th minute) and you can buy or sell the minute of the first Sunderland goal tomorrow at 48.5-51.5.
