There is plenty to play for this week in the Championship with our partner clubs involved in local derbies, top of the table clashes and plenty of other intriguing games. We preview the action below, starting on Saturday lunchtime.
The weekend kicks-off with a Lancashire derby as partner club Preston play host to Burnley. North End made it three wins from four with a victory over Norwich in the week and they are 29/10 to make it four from five.
Having conceded just nine goals in the league this season, Scott Parker’s side are defensively resilient, but something of a statistical anomaly given their expected goals against is over 25. The Clarets are 21/20 to keep their promotion push at full throttle while the draw at 2/1 cannot be discounted given the records of these two sides.
Another 0-0 draw for Burnley can be backed at 5/1 or alternatively you can back the Turf Moor outfit to win to nil at 2/1.
We make the short hop across Lancashire now where Blackburn Rovers entertain a Plymouth side who got a shock 5-1 win over Millwall a few days ago.
Rovers, for their part, were 2-0 winners over West Bromwich Albion and they head into this clash as 8/13 favourites. Argyle boast one of the worst away records in the country and they are 17/4 to get a rare triumph on the road.
There have been 18 goals scored across Plymouth’s last 18 league games and our Total Goals football spread betting market is available to trade at 2.5-2.7.
There is nothing to split Hull and Norwich this weekend with both sides priced up at 13/8 to get a win.
It is a match which has ramifications at both ends of the table, with Norwich amongst a batch of clubs looking to catapult themselves into the play-offs and Hull occupying the last relegation spot.
Goals are often plentiful in matches involving the Canaries and our Total Goals Minutes football spread betting market can be traded at 128-138.
Partner club Watford have been on the slide in recent weeks and with protests surrounding the ownership, Vicarage Road is far from a happy place at the minute. The Hornets were soundly beaten at home by Leeds in the week and they could be up against it tomorrow.
Tom Cleverley’s side have won just one of their last nine games on the road, so it is little surprise to see Boro priced at 4/7 to get the win. It has been 25 years since Watford last did a league double over Middlesbrough and they are 4/1 to win with the draw available to back at 16/5.
As we mentioned before, Millwall were pummelled in Plymouth during the week but, on home turf, the Lions will fancy their chances this weekend against fellow partner club West Brom.
Millwall are unbeaten in seven against the Baggies, though the last four results have been draws and a fifth consecutive stalemate is priced up at 19/10. There is little to split the two sides in the betting with Millwall chalked up at 7/4 and the visitors 17/10 to get a valuable three points in the context of their play-off push.
Five wins from six matches has seen Coventry City soar up the table and the Sky Blues will fancy their chances of making the play-offs given their current momentum.
Standing in their way this weekend are partner club Sheffield Wednesday who are 13/10 to collect all three points in South Yorkshire. Unbeaten in their last five home games, Wednesday sit one point ahead of tomorrow’s visitors who are 19/10 to get a win which would see them leapfrog the Owls.
The match of the gameweek comes from West Yorkshire where top of the league Leeds play host to Sunderland who sit in fourth. All of the top four were victorious in the week and with fifth place Blackburn 14 points behind the Black Cats, the top of the division is a mini league in itself.
United are on an excellent run of form at the minute and having been beaten just once at home all season, they are 1/2 to collect another three points on Monday evening. Daniel Farke’s side have scored 18 goals in the league without reply and a home win to nil is priced at 6/4.
Sunderland are amongst the highest scorers in the league, although their total of 49 is a long way behind Leeds’ tally of 66, and Monday’s clash could well come alight. Total Goals is set at 2.55-2.75 while Total Goal Minutes can be traded at 129-139.
