There are just eight games to go in the Championship with three teams battling it out at the top of the league. Leaders Leeds are 3/10 to win the league with Sheffield United priced at 16/5 in our Championship outright odds and Burnley 13/2.
Further back there are a big bunch of sides looking to make the play-offs with plenty of our sides in the top six mix. In our football betting preview this week, we look at the odds and spreads from this week’s Championship action.
With partner club Watford five points off the play-offs and Plymouth six points adrift from safety, there is plenty to play for when the two sides meet at Vicarage Road.
A poor second half of the season has seen Tom Cleverley’s side drift out to 18/1 to make the top six, but they are 6/11 to get the better of Plymouth this weekend.
The Pilgrims have been woeful on their travels this season, but they did beat Portsmouth in their last away match and they are unbeaten in their last four trips to Hertfordshire. A valuable Plymouth win can be backed at 24/5 and the draw can be backed at 29/10.
We have a boosted bet with Watford schemer Tom Ince 2/1 from 13/8 to score anytime.
Partner club Sheffield Wednesday are another side who need to start chalking up wins if they are to gatecrash the top six with Danny Rohl’s side 10/1 to do so. Like Watford, they play a relegation threatened outfit in the form of Cardiff City and they are 7/5 to get the win in South Wales.
Wednesday’s last two away matches saw them beat Norwich 3-2 and Plymouth 3-0. If their free-scoring form on the road can continue, there will be plenty of interest in trading our Sheffield Wednesday goals football spread betting market. You can buy or sell the Owls to score 1.2-1.4 goals tomorrow.
West Bromwich Albion are 4/5 to make the top six and the Baggies occupy the final play-off spot. They sit six points and six places ahead of Norwich City who are 22/1 longshots to extend their season past the first weekend in May.
Both of these sides are amongst our stable of partner clubs and it is Norwich who are the 6/5 favourites while the draw is 23/10. Without a win in their last 11 league away matches, West Brom are currently on their worst run away from the Hawthorns since March 2018. Tony Mowbray’s side are 21/10 to end their away day hoodoo.
In a recurring theme this weekend, a partner club who is a longshot to make the top six matches up against a relegation threatened side. Blackburn had a good start to the season, but they were rocked by the departure of John Eustace and things have flatlined under the stewardship of Valerien Ismael.
The Frenchman has collected just one point from his first four games in charge of a Rovers side who have lost six of their last seven matches. If Pompey are to stay up, home form will be of paramount importance, and you can back them to win at 5/4. The draw can be backed at 11/5 while the draw has been chalked up at 21/10.
Sunderland find themselves in the slightly strange position of not really having much to play for with the Black Cats needing just a few more results to secure a top six berth. However, with the league leaders 11 points away, the Black Cats don’t have much of a chance of making the top two.
Regis Le Bris’ side lost three of their first 27 Championship matches, but since then they have lost three of their last six. The Mackems are 3/5 to get back to winning ways tomorrow with the draw available to back at 13/5.
Millwall are 50/1 outsiders to make the top six, but a win on Saturday would be make it back-to-back away wins on Wearside for the first time in their history. You can back the Lions to roar this weekend at 24/5.
