Will Manchester City’s chew up the Toffees when they host Everton at 8pm on Sky Sports? Despite having a whopping 77% of possession, City weren’t at their fluid best against Premier League debutantes Brighton last weekend. It took until the 70th minute for Sergio Aguero – continuing to prove that Pep Guardiola’s lack of interest in the Argentine may have been a bit premature – to break the deadlock, before an own goal from Lewis Dunk 5 minutes later sealed the 2-0 victory. Guardiola will be hoping that future games see the side’s mouth-watering attack – not only Aguero, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 58-68, but Gabriel Jesus (at 46-54) and Leroy Sane (at 24-29) – fully reach their potential. Nevertheless a win is a win, and given some of the surprises that popped during the first (and, indeed, second) weekend of the season you can’t ask for more than that. Everton put in an even more unspectacular showing in their opening game, scraping a 1-0 victory against Stoke. That unremarkable match was elevated, however, by the goalscorer – Wayne Rooney, nabbing his first league goal for his boyhood club for 15 years, heading home just before the break. Rooney’s winner set a couple of records, namely the longest gap between goals for the same club (4869) and appearances for the same club (4837). It was also took his Premier League tally to 199, meaning he could become only the second ever player, after Alan Shearer, to break the 200 mark. Admittedly the chances of him doing so on Monday look slim, the 31-year old heading to the Etihad with a Super Mega PGM of just 12-16. Despite the likely debut of £50 million signing Gylfi Sigurdsson, the Toffees may struggle this evening, with Spreadex offering a fairly robust Manchester City/Everton Goal Supremacy spread of 1.6-1.8, alongside a Total Goals spread of 3-3.2.
