With one trying to get out of the Championship, and one trying to stay in it, will it be West Brom or Bolton who picks up the win on Monday night? The Baggies have had a bit of an odd one. In contention for promotion for the majority of the season, they’ve been unable to crack the top 2 for any amount of time, despite being the Championship’s top scoring side.
When they’re on, they’re on, with a string of 4 goal-plus victories allowing them to rack up 55 goals in 27 games. Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez have bagged the brunt of them, and sit at Super Mega PGMs of 31-37 and 30-36 respectively. And even though West Brom have conceded a hardly impressive 35 times, they still have the best goal difference of +20. Yet every time they start to gain on the frontrunners – at the moment Leeds and Norwich – they stumble. For example they haven’t won a Championship fixture in 3 games, drawing to Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich while losing at Blackburn. Still, a win on Monday would keep them in the conversation, lifting them to 3 points off 2nd place and 4 points off 1st. All the way at the other end of the table, Bolton are desperate to push their way out of the relegation zone with their first Championship victory of 2019. Any hopes of a New Year boost were quickly dispelled on January 1st, the Wanderers coming away from Hull with a nasty 6-0 hangover. They then went on to lose 2-1 at Bristol, having picked up a rare win over Walsall in the FA Cup the week previous. With the worst attack in the league, and a defence that isn’t much better, the Wanderers are in for a Blue Monday. Spreadex are offering a West Brom/Bolton (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.6-0.8 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.45-2.65.
