Sports Spread Betting Blog – 21/10/2015: Preview – Manchester City v Sevilla and CSKA v Manchester United, Champions League.

It’s a tricky one for City and United as they can’t afford to give an inch as they strive to secure qualification to the knockout stages, but at the same time they surely must have more than one eye on the weekend’s big top-of-the-table meeting at Old Trafford.

Spreadex clients however appear confident that both clubs will not be distracted by the league and can do the business in Europe tonight – even if the Champions League hasn’t been a particularly happy hunting ground for both recently.

Since entering the Champions League in the 2011-12 season, City have won just five out of 15 home Champions League matches while in the same period United’s best has been a solitary two-legged quarter-final appearance against Bayern Munich the season before last (last season of course, United didn’t even qualify for the Champions League).

Despite those miserable stats, we’ve seen plenty of buyers on City’s Goal Supremacy price of City/Sevilla 0.95 – 1.15 meaning clients would need Manuel Pellegrini’s men to win by at least two goals to start making money.

Given Sevilla currently sit 13th in La Liga, have yet to win away from home in five attempts in all competitions and have only scored twice in those matches, perhaps this is not too surprising.

City are without injured (and highly influential) duo Sergio Aguero and David Silve. However, the Citizens proved on Saturday that they still have players capable of finding the net in the likes of Wilfried Bony and Raheem Sterling while Kevin De Bruyne has also been in recent goalscoring form.

All three have Player Performance spreads of 51 – 56, 65 – 70 and 86 – 91 respectively while their Super Mega Player Goal Minute spreads are 36 – 42, 25 – 30 and 25 – 30.

Of the trio, De Bruyne is proving the most popular pick among Spreadex clients who believe the Belgian could well get amongst the goals tonight.

Looking at United’s trip to Moscow, again we’ve also seen buyers on United’s Goal Supremacy price of United/CSKA (h) 0 – 0.2 meaning these punters would need United to win by at least one goal to start taking a profit on this bet.

This could perhaps be a tough ask considering CSKA currently sit top of the Russian Premier League and are unbeaten all season so far having won 10 and drawn 2 of their 12 games played.

Spread betters seem to think new boy Anthony Martial and old boy Wayne Rooney will be the players who can fire United to victory.

Both players have Super Mega Player Goal Minutes quotes of 19 – 23 while Rooney also has a Player Performance spread of 57 – 62 and we’ve seen a fair amount of buyers on all of these markets.

Last time the sides met, the Red Devils won 1-0 on this exact date in 2009. Six years on, Louis van Gaal would be more than happy to take that same result.
