With the battle for a top 4 finish seeing some bizarre results over the weekend, can Tottenham tighten their grip on 3rd place with a win over Brighton, at 7.45pm on Sky Sports Premier League? Last week was a very good, not good at all one for Spurs. Wednesday saw Tottenham end Man City’s hopes of an unprecedented quadruple, knocking the Premier League favourites out to reach their first Champions League semi-final, matching their European Cup performance from 1961/62. That sets up a pair of fixtures against Ajax – who have managed to overcome both Real Madrid and Juventus – and, potentially, an early June trip to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Yet the London club didn’t actually beat City on the night, instead succumbing to a 4-3 defeat in a bananas game that almost saw Spurs themselves exit the competition, only for Raheem Sterling’s 94th minute strike to be overruled after a VAR check. Tottenham followed that up with another slip-up at City on Saturday, a forgettable 1-0 slump that marked the side’s 6th loss in their last 11 games in all competitions. Without the injured Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min remains their go-to guy, with the South Korean at a super Super Mega PGM of 70-80, well ahead of Wednesday’s hero Fernando Llorente, at 39-46, and Vincent Janssen, Dele Alli and Lucas, all of whom are at 31-37. As for Brighton, though they are 3 points ahead of 18th place Cardiff having played one less game, they could do with a result on Tuesday night to push them that bit closer to safety. The Seagulls are without a win since early March, but did manage to hold Wolves to a goalless draw at the weekend. While on paper Spurs should have Tuesday’s game in the bag, in recent months they have lost to the likes of Burnley and Southampton, so a shock result isn’t out of the question. Nevertheless, Spreadex are offering a Tottenham/Brighton Goal Supremacy spread of 1.65-1.85, alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05.
