Do Arsenal have any chance of beating Man City in Sunday’s EFL Cup final, at 4.30pm on Sky Sport? 2018 has been pretty damn dismal for the Gunners so far. In all competitions they’ve picked up just 4 wins in 10 games, while suffering league defeats to Bournemouth, Swansea and Tottenham, a 3rd round FA Cup exit at the hands of Nottingham Forest and, in the latest example of Arsenal completely losing their bottle, a 2-1 home loss to Sweden’s Ostersunds. Now, that final result didn’t end up mattering too much, as the Gunners already had a 3-0 away leg victory under their belts; and it did involve an underpowered starting 11. However, any way you slice it, it was an abject embarrassment and the worse possible way to prepare for a trip to Wembley. At least Arsenal will have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, ineligible in the Europa League, back to bolster their attack, with the Frenchman at a Super Mega PGM of 30-36. As for Man City, their last game saw any hopes of a quadruple quashed, as they crashed out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 loss to Wigan of all sides. It was a rare slip from a team that has absolutely dominated the domestic game this season (not to mention their ongoing, and promising, run in Europe). Emblematic of their success is Sergio Aguero, who, at a hefty Super Mega PGM of 58-68 will be looking to make it 30 goals in all competitions on Sunday. Given that last time these 2 sides met Guardiola came away with a 3-1 victory, it should be no surprise that Spreadex are offering a Manchester City/Arsenal Goal Supremacy spread of 0.95-1.15 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.3-3.5. Elsewhere it’s a pretty big weekend for Premier League football, though you wouldn’t necessarily be able to tell from Saturday’s fixtures. First up is a trip to Leicester for Stoke, at 12.30pm on Sky Sports. The Potters have a lot of problems at the moment, chief among them being the fact they are still stuck in the relegation zone with just one win in 2018. The Foxes, meanwhile, seem to have traded their league form for a decent run in the FA Cup, with their journey to the quarter-finals coinciding in a 3 game winless streak in the in the Premier League (including a 5-1 battering by Man City). That should end on Saturday, however, with Spreadex offering a Leicester/Stoke Goal Supremacy spread of 0.75-0.95. The afternoon then sees Watford take on Everton at 5.30pm on BT Sport 1. Both sides seem to have settled into mid-table obscurity this season, likely out of reach of a place in Europe but with – just about – enough breathing room between them and the relegation zone. There really isn’t a lot to separate the 2 form-wise. Neither has played a game in a fortnight due to exiting the FA Cup in the 3rd round, with inconsistent runs stretching before that. The hosts just about have the edge it seems, at a Watford/Everton Goal Supremacy spread of 0.25-0.45. Things begin to heat up on Sunday, with Tottenham chasing a place in the top 4 when they travel across London to take on Crystal Palace at 12pm on Sky Sports. Though they’ve been a few frustrating results of late, specifically drawing against both Newport County and Rochdale in the FA Cup, Spurs should be pleased that they haven’t actually lost a game in over 2 months. Not only that, Harry Kane has been absurdly good, the forward now on 34 goals in all competitions. Palace, on the other hand, are a solitary point above the relegation zone, and could well find themselves in the red dependant on what happens this weekend. Roy Hodgson’s turnaround has faltered somewhat since the end of January, leading Spreadex to offer a Tottenham/Crystal Palace Goal Supremacy spread of 1.15-1.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.8-3. Finally, in what could be a key leg of the race for 2nd place, Manchester United host Chelsea at 2.05pm on Sky Sports. Only 3 points separate the 2 sides, with both slipping up in the league of late. They’ve also each been in action mid-week; United were held to a 0-0 draw in Sevilla, while the Blues shared points with Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. Despite the gulf in achievement between the surface-level similarity of those results, United may sneak it on Sunday, given that they’ve lost just one league home game – to Man City – all season. Spreadex are offering a Man United/Chelsea Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4, alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.4-2.6 and a Bookings spread of 51-55.
