The pressure is on Manchester United this evening, the club facing their first pre-Christmas European exit in a decade if they don’t beat Feyenoord, at 8.05pm on BT Sport 2. It is admittedly a bit more complicated than that. If United fall for the second time against the Dutch side AND Fenerbahce beat Zorya Luhansk (a likelihood given that the Turkish club sit at a Goal Supremacy spread of 1.05-1.25) then they will find themselves out on their ear. Anything else and United survive until their trip to Odessa in a fortnight. It has been a rough few weeks for the increasingly irritated Mourinho. In the league United have won just once in their last 6 games, with a humiliating loss against Chelsea joined by frustrating draws against Stoke, Liverpool, Burnley and, most recently, Arsenal. The most pressing problem is that, bar the odd goal-splurge, United have really struggled up front – in fact across October they scored just 1 league goal. With 8 goals in all competitions Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has a stonking Super Mega PGM of 63-73, remains the club’s top scorer this season. On the surface that may not seem too big a problem; however, 6 of those goals came between August and the end of September, the Big Swede only scoring twice (his brace against Swansea) since the start of October. Not that any of United’s other options have had much luck; Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, at Super Mega PGMs of 21-26 and 28-34 respectively, have 2 goals apiece, while Marcus Rashford, at 43-50, is matched on 4 goals by Paul Pogba and Juan Mata. As for Feyenoord, they will be looking to do the double over United after beating them in Rotterdam in Group A’s opening game. They are top of the Eredivisie by 2 points, and will reach the Europa League last 32 with a win on Thursday evening. For all their faults, however, the hosts are yet to lose a home game in Europe this season, and sit at a Manchester United/Feyenoord Goal Supremacy spread of 1.55-1.75 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. Things are slightly easier for Southampton, who travel to Sparta Prague at 6pm on BT Sport 3. Even if they fail to win in the Czech Republic they won’t be out of the competition due to the fact that their final game is against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, who sit 3 points behind the Saints. If they do beat Sparta Prague, however, then anything but a loss for Inter Milan against the Israeli side (not a guarantee given that Hapoel won at the San Siro) would send Southampton through. Southampton are the only side Sparta Prague have lost to in Group K, the Saints beating them 3-0 at St Mary’s. Charlie Austin got 2 goals that night, and heads to the Generali Arena with a Super Mega PGM of 35-41; Shane Long, meanwhile, is at 22-27 despite failing to score in his 12 appearances this season. Though they are without a league win since mid-October the Saints stand a good chance of reaching the final 32, with Spreadex offering a Southampton/Sparta Prague (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.35-0.55 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.25-2.45.
