There are some potentially very tasty scalps on offer in a pretty stacked weekend of FA Cup 4th round action. Things kick off with a trip to Yeovil for Manchester United this Friday evening, at 7.55pm on BBC One. United left it late to beat Derby in the 3rd round, requiring goals from Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku – who sit at Super Mega PGMs of 35-41 and 76-88 – in the final 6 minutes of normal time. As for the Glovers, currently flirting with relegation from League Two, they beat Southend in the 1st round, Port Vale in the 2nd (only after a replay), and Bradford in the 3rd. They face another kind of challenge entirely on Friday, however, and with Alexis Sanchez in the squad – and at a Super Mega PGM of 69-79 – the visitors sit at a Manchester United/Yeovil (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 2.5-2.7 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.4-3.6. Saturday then starts with a visit from Leicester for Peterborough, at 12.30pm on BT Sport 2. The Posh have had a peculiar competition so far; they required replays to get past both the 1st and 2nd rounds, only to win the extra fixtures 5-0 and 5-2 respectively. They found their groove faster in the 3rd round, knocking out potential Championship promotees Aston Villa with a 3-1 away victory. Leicester, meanwhile, were forced to endure a replay of their own after they failed to break down Fleetwood Town at the start of January. They won the return fixture 2-0, with Kelechi Iheanacho – who has a Super Mega PGM of 41-48 – nabbing his first brace for the club. In theory the Foxes shouldn’t have too many issues at the weekend, with Spreadex offering a Leicester/Peterborough (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.9-1.1. Up next is a South Wales soiree for Tottenham, who face Newport at 5.30pm on BT Sport 2. Despite being stuck in 5th place in the league, Spurs haven’t lost a game since mid-December, a period that has seen Harry Kane score 11 goals in 7 games. With his season’s tally now at 28 in all competitions Kane’s eye-watering Super Mega PGM is arguably justified, Spreadex offering the English forward at 91-106. Once again chasing the chance to compete in League Two’s play-offs, Newport have had a pretty smooth FA Cup journey so far, beating Walsall, Cambridge and, most recently, Leeds on route to the 4th round. Of course Spurs are a different kettle of fish entirely, and the Welsh side would do well to come away from the tie with their dignity intact, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Newport (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 2.05-2.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.4-3.6. After falling off their recent unbeaten wagon with a shock loss to Swansea, Liverpool will be looking for catharsis when they host West Brom at 7.45 on BT Sport 2. Following their triumphant showing against Man City, Jurgen Klopp must have been bitterly disappointed for the Reds to end their 18 game loss-less streak against a team currently trapped at the bottom of the Premier League table. Yet Saturday’s game provides Liverpool with the opportunity for an immediate rebound, especially if Mohamed Salah, who has a Super Mega PGM of 53-61, is out in full force. The Baggies have only won 5 in 27 games in all competitions, a stat that is unlikely to change, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/West Brom Goal Supremacy spread of 1.7-1.9 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.1-3.3. Turning to Sunday and Chelsea will want to ensure they have a chance of winning at least one domestic title when they host Newcastle at 1.30pm on BT Sport 2. Though not disastrous, there has been a definite sense of fatigue around the Blues in 2018: they were forced to penalties in their FA Cup 3rd round replay against Norwich, lost their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday, and have only won 1 of their 3 league games so far this calendar year. Luckily Newcastle are in a far worse position – though they made be in 15th in the league, they are only a solitary point above Southampton in 18th. The Blues will also, hopefully, have Alvaro Morata, at a Super Mega PGM of 43-50, back in the squad, leading to a Chelsea/Newcastle Goal Supremacy spread of 1.1-1.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.85-3.05. Finally can Man City keep up their quadruple push when they travel to Cardiff at 4pm on BBC One? With the league arguably a foregone conclusion – City have a 12 point lead at the top – Pep Guardiola can start to think a bit more seriously about sealing all 4 available titles this season. City are already through to the EFL Cup final after beating Bristol on Tuesday, and battered Burnely 4-1 in their FA Cup meeting at the start of the month. And it’s unlikely Cardiff, who required a replay to get past Mansfield despite flying high in the Championship, will pose much of a threat on Sunday. Sergio Aguero, at a Super Mega PGM of 75-87, is chasing 200 goals in sky blue, and may get closer to that record-breaking haul this weekend, with Spreadex offering a Man City/Cardiff (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.6-1.8 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.1-3.3.
