Can Championship leaders Leeds bounce back from their weekend slip-up when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Friday? While not quite up to Liverpool’s standards in the Premier League, Marco Bielsa’s Whites got off to a fantastic start to their 9th Championship season since returning from League One back in 2010. In their first 8 games they won 5 and drew 3, a run that left they at the top of the table from the 4th week onwards. Yet they stumbled last Saturday, a late lifeline from Gjanni Alioski unable to prevent Leeds from suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Birmingham. And while they wasn’t enough to see them overtaken in the Championship, it does leave Middlesbrough on the same 18 points, with just 3 points between 1st and 7th. Though in 10th, Sheffield Wednesday aren’t too far away from this conversation having collected 14 points so far. Things weren’t looking to great early on, with losses against Wigan and Brentford sandwiched around a 1-1 draw against Hull. However, August closed out with home victories over Millwall and Ipswich, and while September hasn’t been perfect, they still only managed to lose once, with a draw against Stoke and wins over Reading and, most recently, Aston Villa. Importantly, Wednesday also are yet to lose at Hillsborough, something that will give them an extra boost heading into Friday night. However, the visitors are at the top of a reason – 19 goals scored and only 7 conceded compared to the hosts’ 14 and 14 – with Spreadex offering a Leeds/Sheffield Wednesday (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.25-0.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.65-2.85.
