Can defending champions Michael van Gerwen cling on at the top of the Premier League Darts following Thursday’s round of fixtures, starting at 7.15pm on Sky Sports Main Event? Last week’s results were a bit odd. Out of 4 matches, only one actually saw a winner, with Daryl Gurney beating Peter Wright 8-4; the other 3 fixtures ended in a draw, with Mensure Sulijovic holding 2018 runner-up, Rob Cross at a stalemate with Gerwyn Price, and James Wade and van Gerwen unable to get the edge over one another.
That leaves Mighty Mike in 1st place on 19 points, and at a Spreadex Outright Index spread of 49-52, with Cross just one point behind on 18, but way off his Dutch rival at a spread of 34-37. Rounding out the top 4, Price and Wade, on 15 points apiece, are then at Outright Index spreads of 19-22 and 20-23 respectively. Things begin at 7.15pm, with what is perhaps the hardest match to call of the entire evening: James Wade vs Gerwyn Price. The Englishman is just about favoured to open up a gap between him and the Welshman, with Spreadex offering a Wade/Price 10-3 Supremacy spread of -0.5-2.5. van Gerwen then takes on Daryl Gurney at 8pm. The Dutchman is expected to breeze past his opponent, at a van Gerwen/Gurney 10-3 Supremacy spread of 13-16. Sat plumb at the bottom of the table, Peter Wright, who is yet to win a fixture in Phase 2, faces Mensur Suljovic at 8.45pm. It looks unlikely that the Scot will end his lousy form, with Spreadex offering a Suljovic/Wright 10-3 Supremacy spread of 2-5. Week 13 culminates with Rob Cross taking on Michael Smith at 9.30pm. If van Gerwen somehow stumbles earlier in the night, then the top spot could be there for Cross to take; fortunately he should be Smith, at a 10-3 Supremacy spread of 4-7.
