Can Liverpool avoid another embarrassing slip up when they travel to Huddersfield at 8pm on BT Sport 1? The Reds got a taste of their own medicine a couple of weeks ago – just after ending Manchester City’s unbeaten streak bottom of the table Swansea brought Liverpool’s own run to a close, suffering a 1-0 loss in Wales that leaves them in danger of slipping out of the top 4. Just as bad was Saturday’s FA Cup, a VAR-blighted 3-2 defeat to 19th place West Brom that leaves the Champions League as only, and unlikely, title left on offer for Jurgen Klopp this season. At least Mohamed Salah added to his tally, his late goal on Saturday bringing the total to 25 goals in all competitions. That leaves Salah with a Super Mega PGM of 51-59, ahead of Roberto Firmino, who scored the opener at the weekend and has 18 goals in total, at a Super Mega PGM of 42-49. As for Huddersfield, they are one of the many, many sides potentially facing the drop, despite sitting in the normally safe enclave of 14th. Only 2 points separate David Wagner’s side with 18th place Southampton, an easily reversible situation given that a) the Saints play Brighton on Wednesday, and b) Huddersfield haven’t won a league game since December 16th. In fact, they’ve lost all 3 of their 2018 fixtures, to Leicester, West Ham and Stoke. And while they beat Bolton in the FA Cup 3rd round, they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Birmingham at the weekend, setting up a 4th round replay next Tuesday. In theory Tuesday’s game should be an easy win for the Reds, with Spreadex offering a sizeable Liverpool/Huddersfield (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.6-1.8 alongside a Total Goals 2.9-3.1. Yet the Terriers may well fancy their chances of following in the footsteps of their fellow relegation-scrappers, given Liverpool’s inexplicable weakness against teams stuck in the bottom half of the Premier League.
