Will it be Burnley or Newcastle who builds on their unlikely push for a place in Europe when the 2 sides meet at 8pm on Sky Sports Premier League? After a dodgy start, the Toon have been pretty solid since returning to the top flight. Granted they haven’t been really tested; and when they have they’ve somewhat faltered (an opening loss against Tottenham, a draw against Liverpool at the start of the month). But still, in 8th place and on 14 points they are positioned to leapfrog Liverpool to take 6th with a victory at Turf Moor. Dwight Gayle should be back after sustaining a calf injury a fortnight ago, and will be looking to rediscover the kind of form that saw him bang in 23 goals last season. He sits at a Super Mega PGM of 20-24, ahead of Joselu and Aleksander Mitrovic, both on 19-23, despite not scoring yet in 2017/18. The Clarets could also overtake Liverpool if they win on Monday night, but only if they finish 3 goals clear of Newcastle. A tighter win would mean they’d have to settle for 7th, displacing Watford in the process. Burnley have racked up a few impressive results this season, none more so than that shock 3-2 victory over Chelsea on opening day, and haven’t been out of the top 10 since the end of August. Admittedly they haven’t been too impressive going forwards. That victory at Stamford Bridge aside, Burnley have failed to score more than once in each of their league games. Worryingly there are questions marks over the fitness of both Chris Wood and Sam Vokes, who sit at Super Mega PGMs of 32-38 and 20-24 respectively, with the latter more likely to feature than the former. That late of firepower up front may be the hosts undoing, with Spreadex offering a Newcastle/Burnley (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.1-2.3.
