Sports Blog 31/12/2014: Match Preview – Premier League, 01/01/2015
The first of the televised matches sees Manchester United visit Stoke on Sky Sports 1 at 12.45pm. Man United seem to have righted themselves after their choppy start to the season, and are currently sitting in 3rd after 4 wins and 2 draws in their last 6 games. Stoke, on the other hand, are plum in the middle of the league at 11th, following a mixed set of fixtures that saw 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

With United averaging 2.1 goals a game in their last 8 matches, our Spreadex clients are fancying a Total Goals spread betting quote 2.45-2.65, alongside an unsurprising Man Utd/Stoke (h) Goal Supremacy spread betting quote of 0.4-0.6. And with van Persie and Rooney in form with 8 goals each, alongside midfield-maestro Juan Mata contributing 5 goals, Spreadex will provide goal scoring odds before the game begins on Thursday.
Following United’s game is the other Manchester side, as City host Sunderland at 3.00pm on BT Sport 1. Manuel Pellegrini’s team are currently 3 points off the top in second, with 5 wins being followed by a draw against Burnley at the weekend. City have won 6 out of their 9 league home games, and will be facing a Sunderland side that are languishing in 14th place following 3 draws, 2 losses and a win, with a distinct lack of away goals.

City will be lacking top scorer Sergio Aguero, so will be looking to Yaya Toure (8 goals), Frank Lampard (6 goals) and David Silva (6 goals) to make up the difference. Our Spreadex clients believe they can, with a Total Goals spread betting quote 3.1-3.3. And much like United, our clients are expecting a City victory at a Man City/Sunderland Goal Supremacy spread betting quote 1.85-2.05.
Finally, the last game of the day sees a London derby, as Chelsea travel to White Hart Lane to kick-off at 5.45pm on BT Sport 1. Chelsea are sitting comfortably at the top of the table, but will need a win to keep Manchester City at bay. After drawing at Southampton at the weekend, Mourinho will want to ensure no more points are dropped against a Tottenham side who are in 7th place following 4 wins, a loss and a draw. However, Chelsea have only managed 2 clean sheets in 10 league away games, so in form Tottenham striker Harry Kane could make the difference for Spurs.

Yet it is hard to look beyond a dominant and confident Chelsea side, who Spreadex have at a Chelsea/Tottenham (h) Goal Supremacy spread betting quote of 0.65-0.85. And following both Chelsea’s top scoring form, and their inability to keep out the goals away from Stamford Bridge, we have seen plenty of movement around a Total Goals spread betting quote of 2.6-2.8. With the Blues’ Diego Costa on 13 goals alongside Spurs’ Kane on the same amount, it may be down to these talismanic strikers to create the edge for each side, with Spreadex providing goal scoring fixed odds betting before, and during, the game.
