ANDREW MOUNT RACING SELECTIONS – TUESDAY, 9th MAY 2023
Andrew heads to the jumps meetings at Ffos Las and Fakenham for his recommended selections on Tuesday, May 9th. Follow the lowdown on his latest picks below:
FFOS LAS JOCKEYS
SEAN BOWEN has a good book of mounts at Ffos Las today, a course he rides exceptionally well. He’s won on 66 of his 351 mounts at the Welsh venue (18.8% strike-rate), a haul that exceeds the expected number of winners (based on their odds) by some way. He’s particularly effective over fences here, scoring on 39 of his 136 rides (28.7%) for a profit of £64.74 to a £1 level stake at SP. Only two of his six rides today come in chase company but one of those – DICEY RIELLY in the mares’ handicap chase (4.10) – is going to be very difficult to beat judged on the manner of her last-time-out course victory. LERMOOS LEGEND (5.15), Bowen’s other chase ride, has been off the track for 161 days, but form figures in cheekpieces at today’s venue of 2111 (3-4) suggest he could out-run odds of around 12-1. The young jockey also has some quality rides over hurdles, most notably THE SAME (2.00), who goes in the 2m4f novices’ hurdle. A winner at Market Rasen on his debut over timber, he finished a solid third in a stronger race over course and distance last time and it will be disappointing if he isn’t in the first two. Buy SEAN BOWEN in the Ffos Las Jockeys market with Spreadex. Fixed odds punters might want to combine some of his rides in a multiple bet.
Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Buy SEAN BOWEN in Ffos Las Jockeys
FAKENHAM 3.10
Stratford usually favours prominent racers who take the shortest route on the inside rail but soft ground turned the rail into a swamp at the meeting on April 23rd giving those who challenged late/wide a huge edge. I’ve taken the view that winners from that meeting were flattered, including SCUDAMORE who was breaking his duck at the 12th time of asking when landing the 2m2.5f novices’ handicap hurdle. He was beaten by 24 lengths when third at Fakenham on his penultimate start and the Jennie Candlish-trained six-year-old can be opposed at short odds when returning to Norfolk this afternoon. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to side with JUKEBOX D’EDDY, who looks ready for the step up to 2m4f.
Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Sell SCUDAMORE in Fakenham 3.10 50-25-10
