Andrew found 15-2 Ffos Las winner MY GRANNY LILY on Thursday and has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, February 2nd.

SOUTHWELL 1.25

When playing in handicap chases in the Spreadex markets, the type of horse you want on your side is the sound-jumping honest plodder who has plenty of in-the-frame efforts to their name. Step forward ALI STAR BERT in this 3m 0-100 Class 5 contest. The Shaun Harris-trained eight-year-old won just once from 12 starts over hurdles but his chase record stands at P112323612 (3-10), with the non-completion easily excused as it came on his chase debut, he was ridden by a 7lb conditional jockey, and he was always playing catch-up at pace-favouring Uttoxeter after a slow start. His only other unplaced effort, a 54-length sixth of 18 at Warwick last November, was actually much better than it looked – his patient running was at a huge disadvantage, and he fared third best of those to come from off the pace. His three chase runs at today’s venue have returned form figures of 212 (1-3) and, while I also like the claims of DOCTOR FOLEY on his return from wind surgery, he’s a Monte Carlo-or-bust type of pick who could win or bomb out completely. Buy ALI STAR BERT in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back ALI STAR BERT in Southwell 1.25

CATTERICK 1.35

KINGS JUSTICE lacks the consistent profile of Ali Star Bert (see above) but he has shown improved form for cheekpieces over today’s course and distance the last twice, finishing second at 18-1 in a field of 14 before a narrow 6-1 success. Everything looks right for another good run, and he can be bought in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back KINGS JUSTICE in Catterick 1.35
