Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 05.07.23

Andrew heads to the evening Flat meetings at Bath and Musselburgh for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, July 5th.

BATH – DOUBLE DRAW

We’ve had 58 races at Bath this year and exactly 50% of them were won by the runners in stalls 1, 2 or 3. The low-draw bias has been in play even when the ground is on the soft side (it usually pays to challenge wide, favouring high draws, when the going is slower than good) and selling DOUBLE DRAW with Spreadex looks right move at this evening’s meeting.

Recommendation: Sell DOUBLE DRAW at Bath

MUSSELBURGH 5.15

BIRDIE BOWERS could only finish a very modest fifth in a 5f Class 6 handicap at Catterick on his most recent outing, but he lost ground after anticipating the start and was always playing catch-up in a slowly-run contest (the winner, runner-up and third were described by the Racing Post as ‘made all’, ‘prominent’ and ‘pressed leader’). He emerged second best of those to come from off the pace and Dream Deal, best of the closers, was only beaten by half a length when 16-1 at Pontefract just two days ago. He’s well drawn in stall 8 and should be hard to keep out of the frame granted a clean break. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
