Andrew heads to the afternoon meetings at Bath and Southwell (AW) for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, September 6th.
There’s plenty of early pace in the 5f handicap at Bath today, not least from Grace Harris-trained pair CONNIE’S ROSE and SYMBOL OF HOPE. PEPSI CAT can also put pace to a race, and I want to be with a stalker who can pick up the pieces in the last half furlong or so. REGAL ENVOY looks the likeliest candidate having caught the eye with an unlucky-in-running 16-1 tenth of 12 at Beverley under a 7lb claimer just four days ago. His passage was blocked at the two-furlong pole and he was repeatedly denied a clear run in the closing stages, but for which he might have been placed. The William Knight yard ended a losing spell when Dual Identity scored at Sandown last Saturday and the four-year-old split Connie’s Rose and Symbol Of Hope when the trio finished one-two-three here back in June. Buy at 19 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back REGAL ENVOY in Bath 2.15
The James Ferguson-trained QUEEN OF ATLANTIS heads the betting (2-1 with Spreadex) for this 7f restricted novice contest but looks worth taking on. The daughter of Advertise finished a two-length runner-up to Woodhay Wonder on her debut at Newbury in late June but may have been flattered from her favourable high draw (the first four home came from the four highest draws). The comfortable winner of that contest has gone in again since but the third and fourth have been beaten in their seven combined subsequent outings at odds of 15-8, 15-8, 5-2, 5-2, 3-1, 5-1 and 13-2. Sell at 21 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose QUEEN OF ATLANTIS in Southwell 2.40
