Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew heads to the evening meetings at Ripon and Kempton for two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, June 7th.

RIPON 6.40

LUDO’S LANDING scored comfortably in the first-time blinkers at Carlisle on his latest outing and is now two from two at that venue. However, his record elsewhere stands at 2325384436 (0-10) and, since taking out the licence in his own name, Charlie Johnston doesn’t have the greatest record with horses attempting to back up a win, scoring with six of the 54 qualifiers (11.1% strike-rate) for a loss of £41.45 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 10.34). Only two of the eight penalised runners won (2-1 and 2-7) and Ludo’s Landing may struggle to follow up under a 6lb penalty, despite the ease of that Carlisle success. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to side with LASER GUIDED, a likely improver on his handicap debut.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Oppose LUDO’S LANDING in Ripon 6.40

KEMPTON 8.25

STAY WELL hasn’t had many opportunities on the all-weather but has run well both times he’s encountered a synthetic surface, scoring over 1m4f at Kempton at odds of 6-1 in October 2012 before a narrow second (beaten by a head, 18-5f) over 1m3f the following April. Progeny of his sire, Iffraaj, are profitable to back blind over 1m3f or further at Sunbury venue, landing 18 of their 107 starts (+£42.20 to a £1 level stake at SP) and the return to the all-weather can see Stay Well back to winning ways under William Buick tonight. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or rake a fixed odds price.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Back STAY WELL in Kempton 8.25
