Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 08.09.23

Andrew heads to Ascot and Kempton for his two recommended bets/trades on Friday, September 8th.

ASCOT 4.45

AERION POWER heads the early betting for this 1m handicap after his fine 40-1 fourth over course and distance in the Royal Hunt Cup but the six-year-old entire has lost nine on the bounce and has won just once from nine starts on turf, when 5-4 favourite for a Doncaster handicap back in May 2021. I prefer the claims of Saeed Bin Suroor’s MAJOR PARTNERSHIP, a 12-1 runner-up over course and distance last time. He was only three-quarters of a length behind the Oisin Murphy-ridden winner that day – his stablemate and 9-4 favourite Ghaly – and it’s good to see Murphy on board this afternoon. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back MAJOR PARTNERSHIP in Ascot 4.45

KEMPTON 8.00

Three-year-old fillies tend to struggle in big-field (10+ runner) handicaps at Kempton when taking on male rivals, landing just 27 of their 546  starts since the beginning of 2021 (5% strike-rate, -£312.43 to a £1 level stake at SP) and three of them line up in this 6f Class 5 contest – FULL PRIME (stall 5 of 12), DISTINGUISHED LADY (stall 3) and SASSY BELLE (stall 1). Sell them individual in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market is one angle but, with the trio all drawn low, I’m going to sell DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER instead. This mean also fielding against fancied pair CHANGE SINGS (stall 2) and BILL PLUMB (stall 4) but the former faces competition for the early lead from Sassy Belle and the last-named hung badly left when scraping home over course and distance in the spring and might prove best left-handed. Fixed odds punters might want to chance LILKIAN at a big price.

Recommendation: Sell DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in Kempton 8.00

Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
