Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew heads to Newbury’s jumps meeting for his two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, November 9th.

SEDGEFIELD 1.35

DRAGONFRUIT made all for an impressive reappearance win at Uttoxeter last time, but he jumped out to his right on the left-handed track and was running over a course and distance that is extremely kind to front-runners. The eight-year-old’s two previous wins were both followed by defeats (second and sixth) and he has gone backwards after a good reappearance effort before – notably when pulling up on his second start back last term after finishing today in today’s race on his comeback. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose DRAGONFRUIT in Sedgefield 1.35

NEWBURY 2.25

Nine-year-old DOLPHIN SQUARE has a solid record when fresh, recording form figures of 12221 (2-5) on his seasonal debuts and also has a very respectable record at Newbury of 14221 (2-5), with the fourth in an 18-runner handicap hurdle. He was only 17th of 22 at the Aintree festival when we last saw him but that was in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle, and he usually goes off the boil in the spring. He’s the co-oldest horse in this Pertemps Qualifier but first-time out is when to catch him and his connections will be looking to win, not just to qualify for the final of this series at Cheltenham in March unlike some of his younger rivals. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back him each-way at a fixed-odds price.

Recommendation: Back DOLPHIN SQUARE in Newbury 2.25
