Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew made a good profit with his buy of DOUBLE NUMBER OF WINNER at Chester yesterday and has two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, May 11th.

CHESTER 2.05

Dominic Ffrench Davis’ SURELY NOT looked impressive when scoring at Newmarket on his seasonal debut, but the market may have over-reacted to that performance, as the headwind made life difficult for the prominent racers and the hold-up horses held a distinct advantage, filling the first five places home. Fifth-placed Supreme King failed to frank the form on his next outing when sent off 13-8 favourite for a Doncaster maiden, finishing a well beaten fourth, and it’s a distinct possibility that the horses finishing to the fore at HQ were flattered. This race looks full of potential improvers and I’m happy to oppose Surely Not in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to play each-way on LORD UHTRED, who can be forgiven last month’s Newbury fifth as he was badly drawn.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Oppose SURELY NOT in Chester 2.05

THIRSK 7.10

Trainer Tina Jackson switched JAMIL from the Flat to a winter campaign over hurdles in the 2021/22 season and although it took him a while to find his feet, he improved with experience and landed his first hurdle race at the seventh attempt, a 2m handicap at Newcastle in March. He landed a 1m4f handicap by four-lengths at Catterick the following month and although failing to add to his tally he ran well in defeat in three further races on the level. After a summer break he returned to action for another winter stint over the jumps and his form followed a similar trend, taking a while to get going he looked all set to repeat his course victory at Newcastle on his fifth start, only to fall at the third-last when certain to be involved in the finish. He returns to the Flat over his optimum 1m4f trip – his record over this distance reads 113 (2-3) – and with Ben Curtis a positive booking he has solid claims of a return to the winner’s enclosure. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a price in the fixed odds betting.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Back JAMIL in Thirsk 7.10
