Andrew kicks off a new month with three recommended bets/trades on  the all-weather on Wednesday, November 1st.

LINGFIELD 12.30

Early pace has been the key to punting on Lingfield’s Polytrack of late, with front-runners landing 13 of their 64 starts (20.3% strike-rate) in the past 100 days for a profit of £144.02 to a £1 level stake at SP. Prominent racers also showed a profit (+£6.72) thanks to 32 winners from 207 runners (15.5% strike-rate) whereas those ridden patiently won just 13 of their 267 starts (4.9%) for a huge loss of £182.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. The shorter the distance, the harder it is to come from off the pace, with only one winner from 61 runners in sprints (5f-6f) during the study period. INTRICATE PILLAR, 2-1 favourite with Spreadex for this afternoon’s 1m opener, likes to come late off a strong pace, as she did when second by a head in a 14-runner handicap at Kempton last time. Her sole win also came in a big field at Kempton – a 13-runner 7f handicap – and she could be vulnerable in this six-runner contest which looks set to be run at a steady pace. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose INTRICATE PILLAR in Lingfield 12.30

LINGFIELD 3.08

ALEXI BOY finished a 12-length last of the 13 runners when 12-1 for a 5f Redcar handicap last time but that effort is safely ignored. Michael Bell’s colt missed a beat at the start and was rushed up to sit just behind the very strong early gallop. The pace collapsed and those ridden patiently came through to fight it out, with 11-1 chance Muker (‘in rear, soon pushed along’) prevailing by a head from 10-1 shot Khabib (‘towards rear’). Ninth-placed Albegone (‘prominent’) was a 10-1 winner at Musselburgh next time and Alexi Boy, a five-length maiden winner on his only previous course outing, looks worth a punt. Buy at 14 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back ALEXI BOY in Lingfield 3.08

KEMPTON 6.45

The Richard Hannon-trained GISBURN broke a losing run of 14 races when scoring narrowly at Goodwood last time, his first start since a gelding operation. His yard has a solid record with horses on their second run back after being gelded, scoring with 26 of the 150 qualifiers since 2018 for a profit of £24.02 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who finished in the top six on their latest outing were 24 from 107 for a profit of £55.52. The switch to the all-weather is unlikely to be a problem on breeding and he rates a buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back GISBURN in Kempton 6.45
