Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 12.09.23

Andrew heads to the afternoon meetings at Catterick and Worcester for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, September 12th.

ATTERICK 2.05

Overnight rain has changed the going at Catterick to good to soft, soft in places, and the runners are likely to make a beeline for the stands’ side rail in the straight. SAISONS D’OR isn’t best drawn in stall 6 of 14 but has the early speed to get across in this 7f handicap and could be hard to catch. Jedd O’Keeffe’s veteran was only eighth of 12 in a 1m handicap at Ripon last time but could bever get across from his poor wide draw and hasn’t won beyond an extended 7f since April 2019. His three course runs for regular jockey Jack Garritty – on board again today – have produced a win, a second place and a sixth (missed the break badly) and, though sometimes withdrawn when it is very soft, he actually comes out best on the speed figures I use when filtered for genuinely good to soft or softer going (based on times, not the official going). Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back SAISONS D’Or in Catterick 2.05

WORCESTER 3.30

COME ON DU BERLAIS finds winning difficult and looks worth taking on in this 2m4f mares’ maiden hurdle. The five-year-old has had wind surgery since her latest third over 2m here, which could bring improvement, but she was beaten by 44 lengths on her sole previous attempt at this trip and was withdrawn after proving reluctant to jump off at Bangor last week. She’s 0-6 since justifying odds-on favouritism in a Kelso bumper last spring and can be sold in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose COME ON DU BERLAIS in Worcester 3.00
