Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 13.07.23

Andrew heads to Newmarket – day one of the three-day July Festival – and Doncaster for his two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, July 13th.

NEWMARKET JOCKEYS

WILLIAM BUICK is seven from 18 on the July Course at Newmarket this year, including three wins from three rides on front-runners. CASTLE WAY (1.50) looks the pace angle in the opening Group 3 Bahrain Trophy Stakes and can get him off to a great start with a maximum 25pts in the Spreadex NEWMARKET JOCKEYS market. CHIEF NAMKATO, winner of his only previous start, might be able to pick up points in the Group 2 Kingdom Of Bahrain Stakes, while ADAYAR (3.35) is likely to go off as the odds-on favourite for the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes. SACRED ANGEL (4.10), trained by Charlie Johnston, ran green when third at Pontefract on last month’s debut and could be the one to put pace to the race – the key to winning on the July Course this season – in the fillies’ maiden (4.10). IMPERIAL EMPEROR, successful on the Rowley Mile last backend, maintained his 100% record when making all in a 1m novice contest here last month, and could prove hard to pass in the 4.45. SIRONA, 12-1 at the time of writing for the 1m Boodles Handicap (5.20), is Buick’s biggest-priced mount, but the drop in trip could suit Charlie Johnston’s filly and she’s far from a forlorn hope. Fixed odds punters might want to combine his rides in a multiple bet with Spreadex.

Recommendation: Buy WILLIAM BUICK in Newmarket Jockeys

DONCASTER JOCKEYS

Since the beginning of the 2010 season, JAMIE SPENCER has won on 68 of his 389 rides (17.5% strike-rate) at Doncaster for a profit of £44.30 to a £1 level stake at SP (+11.4% on turnover). When riding for David Simcock, his strike-rate improves to 25.5% thanks to 14 winners from 55 rides (+£30.00 to a £1 level stake at SP). Simcock provides Spencer with three of his five mounts today, with KHAMSIN (3.45), an eyecatching fourth on his debut, the most interesting one. The Harry Eustace-trained COUPLET, impressive winner of her sole start at two, is another with solid claims and a buy of JAMIE SPENCER in the DONCASTER JCOKEYS MARKET is the recommendation.

Recommendation: Buy JAMIE SPENCER in Doncaster Jockeys
