Andrew turns his attention to Carlisle and Southwell’s Racing League meeting for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, September 13th.
Jim Goldie’s AIGHEAR was the outsider of the five runners for this 2m1f handicap at the time of writing but I’m expecting her to out-tun her big odds. The five-year-old caught the eye when runner-up under patient tactics in a steadily-run 1m4f contest at Hamilton on her penultimate start and found 1m3f on fast ground an insufficient test of stamina when fourth here on her latest outing. She takes a big step up in trip to 2m1f but her two best RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) came over 1m7f and it’s worth taking a chance on her stamina. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back AIGHEAR in Carlisle 3.15
Jockey DANIEL MUSCUTT has a good record when riding on Southwell’s Tapeta surface, especially in handicaps, scoring on 19 of his 103 mounts for a profit of £29.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who started at odds of 14-1 or shorter were 10 from 83 for a profit of £49.25. DUBAI HILLS, an 8-1 shot at the time of writing, looks well drawn in stall 5 of 12 in the opening 7f handicap and should be able to track likely front-runner Buttercross Flyer before pouncing in the straight. Both HAT TOSS (6.45) and NORDIC PASSAGE (7.15) are near the head of the market for their respective races, while SPORTING HERO (8.15) is 1-1 on Tapeta and could benefit from a gelding operation since disappointing in his two previous runs this term. PERCY SHELLEY (8.45) is hard to assess – he makes his debut for David O’Meara after leaving France where he won three times – but his dam scored twice on the all-weather in Britain and the surface shouldn’t be a problem. Buy DANIEL MUSCUTT in the SOUTHWELL JOCKEYS market with Spreadex or combine his first three mounts in a multiple bet.
Recommendation: Buy DANIEL MUSCUTT in Southwell Jockeys
