Andrew has been in good form this week and has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, October 13th. Please note that Andrew is taking a short break and his next column will be on Thursday, October 19th.

YORK 5.00

The Michael Dods-trained nine-year-old DAKOTA GOLD is clearly not the force of old but his reappearance third to subsequent Nunthorpe winner Live In The Dream suggests there is still a race in him and he had little chance against the draw bias when 20th of 22 at Doncaster on his penultimate start. Last month’s Ripon defeat is less easy to excuse but that came in a Class 2 handicap, and he now drops down to Class 3 level for the first time in several years. His full record in this grade or lower reads 31112263 (3-8) and the son of Equiano, well drawn in stall 7, will appreciate the forecast heavy rain. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back DAKOTA GOLD in York 5.00

DUNDALK 5.15

HARRY THE ROGUE could only finish a modest fifth after making the running in a 1m maiden at Listowel last time but the cut back to 7f and switch to Polytrack for the first time could bring about improvement. His sole previous run at this trip produced a 17-2 neck second of 14 at Down Royal in June and juvenile progeny of sire The Gurkha do well over this trip on the all-weather, landing eight of their 34 starts for a profit of £69.90 to a £1 level stake at SP. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back HARRY THE ROGUE in Dundalk 5.15
